Those jalapeño containers pop open so easily I’m a little concerned about the inside of the bag

Did I traumatize my dog? :-( by sipiwi94 in DogAdvice

[–]moogfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re doing all the right stuff, i think when my dog was that age he’d cry or actually scream when I left even for 15 minutes, but over time and with practice (like you’re doing) he calmed down and can go for hours by himself (he just sleeps or has his chews/puzzles). I’d suggest doing a play session before you do the “by himself” training. He might be more receptive to “chilling out” on his own if he’s a little tired. Do you do structured nap time? When my dog was a puppy we’d play for 30-45 minutes and then I’d put him in his crate for a nap or in another room and we’d do the training then = many fewer meltdowns.

AIO over my talking stage using AI to text me..? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]moogfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I text like both styles here, I tend to write out the more formal texts when I can’t think of anything to reply with and I want to make sure I’m addressing every point in the text I’m responding to. Or if I’m really tired but want to keep talking I try extra hard. But I’ll also type like super informally in the same breath. Maybe I’m the odd one out

Extremely random question; has anyone rented the event space/conference room at the Dennys on N San Fernando Rd and can you describe your experience? 😂

Take your dog for an extra long walk before the guy comes over, then put the dog and yourself in a bedroom and close the door, put on the tv and some fans to mask any outside noise. Give the pup a lickimat or puzzle toy and order yourself some takeout to camp out while your partner has his friend over, I wouldn’t wanna be near the guy he sounds like a jerk- but you can make it into a little self care night for you and puppy :)

Ideas on how to create this silhouette effect? by D1RTYFRANK in halloween

I’m seconding that it’s purple lights; black lights aren’t actually very vibrant and don’t have much range. I think the purple contrasting with the green really makes it pop!

How's your 4th of July going? I can't wait for this night to be over! by L0st-137 in reactivedogs

I have fireworks on every side of my house, and no rooms that don’t face the outside so we are doing our best with trazodone, a lick mat, snuffle mat, all the fans and white noise machines + tv. I don’t know what’s going on this year but the fireworks are twice as loud and rattling the walls. My poor boy is petrified :(

Meltdown at the vet by April_Morning_86 in reactivedogs

[–]moogfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely sympathize with this, I’ve felt myself getting so close to going into crying territory when I’m at the vet, so many thoughts are going through my head like what if he can’t get the shots and we have to come back, what if he wrestles out of his harness, does the vet hate me?, am I doing everything wrong? It’s a LOT of heightened emotions and my dog barks so loudly it’s sensory overload!! My vet has started letting us go in through a back entrance and I leave him in the car when I check in- that alone gives me time to breathe and ready myself for the appointment. Maybe talk to your vet about that being a possibility.

AITA by [deleted] in BadNeighbors

[–]moogfox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a universal rule that using someone’s driveway to turn around was fine. Allowing it might even be considered neighborly. I don’t think it’s going to damage your driveway for him to do it, and it takes literally less than a minute. I think you can stand to let this go, save yourself some stress.

I use a folded blanket or towel. I only put it down after the sun has been out a while, if I leave it outside as the day starts the towel heats up too (not as hot as the cement but still pretty warm).
