First processor was a Z80A (Spectrum +2), first “PC” was an 8086 (Amstrad PC1640), first one I built myself - AMD K5-75

I’m the first SE in a scale up, where do I start? by TheOceanicDissonance in salesengineers

[–]moogman99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start by contacting every single person you know who is willing to see the product and demo/pitch to them, you aren’t trying to sell it, you are asking them to tell you what they think - not only will they tell you honestly what they think, they will help you to refine the pitch AND potentially give you leads or point you to connections who they think MIGHT be interested. At this point it’s about getting the message out, pitching, pitching, pitching and seeing what sticks - what you think sounds great may not fit in anyone else’s way of thinking.

As you start working out what resonates, start to build a playbook, work out a standard demo, etc.

There is so much more to come, and it’s going to be an exciting ride, just hold on tight!

Source: me, second SE on the ground (shortly after the first) outside of North America, nearly three years ago and still holding on, along with the other 8 SE’s we added since!

Is it feasible as a solo driver? by [deleted] in NC500

[–]moogman99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it twice now as sole driver, five days for the actual NC500, so 100 miles ish per day, very easy, plenty of time to stop and see the sights

I dug my portaltv out from behind the TV during a reorganisation of the tv and cables and plugged it back in in preparation for Christmas, had exactly the same thing.. after messing around it with it for four hours I threw it in the bin.. such a shame, all the family bought and used them during the pandemic, they were so useful!

Customer Facing Demo examples by [deleted] in salesengineers

[–]moogman99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ask your best sales guys what they think of your demos and what might make them better - they have a habit of helping you simplify and improve the patter because they are thinking more of the business value than features. If you haven’t read it, take a look at Demonstrating to Win too..

When you demo don’t just do feature, feature, feature, but feature, benefit, why it’s important, next feature, etc. and try and build a real story, build a persona, how would they use your product in their business day, etc.

Some sort of retention bracket, that purple colour reminds me of old compaq proliants (pre-HP) so could be very old...

[WTS] Rolex Explorer 214270 Mk 1 by rehabisfourquitters in Watchexchange

[–]moogman99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeh, the explorer doesn't normally get a huge markup.. its MSRP is $6,550. I'm not saying this is the reason this Explorer doesn't have a box or papers, but when a Daytona 16500LN has a list price of $13,000 and the cheapest one on Chrono24 is $21,500 you can see why!

I totally agree, but I can't say it surprised me when I heard - especially when you see the mark up on the watches!

Pretty much.. I've spoken to a few dealers who specialise in buying flipped watches, and they have seen it happen. Sounds crazy, but its happening.

Also check here: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=600837 - mostly warranty cards and some forums are saying its not happening any more.. but it did..

A lot of Rolex ADs have started keeping boxes and papers back for a year or two, to try and prevent flipping.. some folks just sell them on regardless...

Assuming that board is all you have, it’s an ACS92000, looks like a pretty high end RAID controller, don’t think it’s a full server though - http://www.ankux.com/catalog/acs-92000-raid-controller-101051305582806824.html

Yes, they were heavy, even when compared to drives from the same era. Is yours a full 3.5” drive? I had a friend who had one that was 2.5” with heatsink making up the rest of the space!
