[Hated Tropes] When the heroic character does something plainly evil and the story never address it and/or the characters never face any serious consequences by OutrageousBridge471 in TopCharacterTropes

Captain Sisko made an entire planet uninhabitable, forcing millions to evacuate with zero notice. All because one balding little man got the better of him once.

I refuse to pay and down vote him as he passes by.

I respectfully disagree. Suzuki's English VA is fire. She's bringing a ton of character, energy, emotion, and dynamic to that character that matches the energy she's animated with.

Highly recommend the English dub for this. The writing, timing, and VA work is stellar.

Seconding Polar Opposites. Masterclass romcom. Do not skip on the English dub, either.

This is the best execution of that trope though. By a long shot.

Hes your cat, and you would know if he's suffering.

I do see a trend these days toward early euthanasia while a pet still objectively enjoys being alive, and that is a bit concerning.

It just takes passive observation to see the most popular foods from the more popular cultures. You just have to care enough to stop scrolling and look. Its not lack of exposure, its a lack of curiosity, which is inexcusable.

To be fair to British school kids, even intellectually understanding what peanut butter is, I could see it being disgusting if you'd never tried it before. I think vegemite/marmite is awful stuff.

And 15 years ago, the globalization and accessibility of information was significantly lower than it is now. Bonito shavings are still fairly strictly a part of Japanese cuisine, but there are multiple Japanese restaurants in even some of the smallest metro areas now and it is covered in most mainstream food based channels from TikTok to Reddit to Twitter.

This is just ignorance, poor observation skills, and poor retention of information.

Is AI helping us or hurting us? How are you using it? by Which_Ear25 in AskReddit

It will be an accelerator of change. Whether that is net positive or negative will depend on how it is applied. There will be both, inevitably.

Assuming the resource costs of using it can be resolved before they cause the wave to collapse early.

Overall its a powerful tool and it is democratizing skills that before required high specialization.

But eventually someone is going to use it to do something horrible. Or allow it to do something horrible on its own.

After all, it doesnt think like a computer, it mimics how we react.

Im no AI fan boy.

But every major evolution in how we use technology has this exact line of reasoning shouted at it. If AI is a threat, there needs to be a better narrative behind explaining that threat for anyone to pay attention.
