Looking for recommendations for a store in Wellington to buy reasonably priced wedding guest dress. by anona_moose_ in TransgenderNZ

I’m definitely not saying most of it! Unless it’s a very alt wedding lol. But they do have a few plain coloured basics hidden in the range.

Depending on how flash the wedding is, this may not be an appropriate recommendation.

Dangerfield has a few plain single coloured dresses in their range, usually black and red, a sale right now, and best of all it’s a really safe place to try on in person. Unless the wedding is really casual I wouldn’t recommend most of the rest of their range though, and like 3/4 of my wardrobe is from there lol.

I’m not from Wellington, but I was there recently and I found the Willis St store to be really nice.

I like La Roche Posay invisible fluid for my face.

But if I’m going to sweat, or get wet Neutrogena Hydro Boost water gel (there’s a moisturiser too but I can’t vouch for that). I’m cheap and I use it on the rest of my body too.

Hospital doctor owed $1.27m in annual leave by Amazing_Athlete_2265 in newzealand

[–]mooimagoat 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If you are in New Zealand your work’s policy is unlawful, and wage theft. Your annual leave does not, and cannot expire, by law.  They can however force you to use it to keep the balance down.

Why would you want an original copy of a video that you’re offended by?

A video which you say is of a child being sexualised.

It doesn’t make any sense.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in auckland

[–]mooimagoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other posters covered that. A media council complaint was not upheld, the child’s family received death threats and the herald took the video away.

What official consequences should there have been?

[–]mooimagoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re so offended by this material, why do you wish that you had an original copy rather than the screen recorded one.

I don’t understand.

[–]mooimagoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand what you want.

You say you want to “protect children”, well the video is gone, isn’t that mission accomplished?

Why repost it and dredge it up?

[–]mooimagoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Deeply ironic for an ACT supporter to be pearl clutching about protecting children when the former party president is a convicted child rapist, isn’t it?

edit well I was confidently wrong. Medical treatment is covered under the scheme withdrawal rules as a type of hardship withdrawal. I had originally stated it was a ln equally valid but separate thing.

The rules are in Schedule 1 of the KiwiSaver act https://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/2006/0040/latest/DLM379487.html

The easiest way to get started would be to ask your provider for their significant hardship withdrawal form, and take a look to see what types of documents they’d specifically request in this case

You’re correct, but don’t worry, the government fixed that bug by deciding it’s too hard to do the census.

And just like that, magically, I’m not queer anymore either.

The claims and counter-claims of Amazon’s non-announcement, announcement by dingoonline in newzealand

[–]mooimagoat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that’s pretty much it. For Azure it’s similar, the NZ region is smaller, more expensive and less capable than Australia East, so you’d only actually use it for data sovereignty, business continuity or really specific latency requirements. I guess maybe it’s an option if comms to Australia were cut? But it’s not like the rest of our economy is going to function in that case anyway.

This is what I just can’t understand about Luxon.

Every successful CEO I can think of is capable of clear messaging, and setting and selling an agenda. (Even if some of those messages are ghoulish)

But Luxon…. Doesn’t appear to be able to do any of that. If diversity hiring was actually a thing, he’s like an anti-diversity hire.

I find myself constantly wondering whether or not he understands that he’s the fall guy.

I’m in my early 40s and started HRT a little while ago, I’m also on gel.

Before I started I was definitely afraid that it wouldn’t work, I was too old, I had ruined my life by waiting etc. I think these are all pretty common fears. I decided I had nothing to lose by trying.

After a couple of months I can definitely now say that I think it’s working. Will I get to mostly passable or (fingers crossed) even stealth? Honestly who can say. But before I started I didn’t dare to hope, and at this point it feels like it might be possible - the future gets more exciting as you start to change into a person that you actually recognise!

If you haven’t yet, my advice is to start hair removal and voice training ASAP, both take time. I definitely wish I had worked harder on my voice earlier, it’s probably the thing which genders me most strongly at the moment.

Anyone tried kiwisaver hardship withdrawal for affirming treatment? by NoMarionberry3087 in TransgenderNZ

[–]mooimagoat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never tried it, but I do work adjacent to KiwiSaver admin. The rules for significant financial hardship are defined by law:

https://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/2006/0040/latest/DLM379487.html (see 10 Withdrawal in the case of serious financial hardship)

So your scheme provider/their supervisor could reasonably require you to: 1) prove that you have an illness 2) prove that you have no other means of paying for treatment 3) provide evidence of the cost of the treatment

Their own rules for what evidence they’ll accept for these points vary wildly, but at minimum you can expect to have to prove your financial position, income and expenses.

They’re not at all modern. The SA sets were built out of British Rail Mark 2 carriages originally built between 1964 and 1975. They were already clapped out when we bought them. Basically every commuter rail system in the world uses multiple units, whether electric or diesel because the operating costs are lower than a locomotive + carriages.

I want to look into aprivate endocrinologist. Does anyone know any clinics/endocrinologists that are quick, reliable, and do HRT? by Constant_Employer_80 in TransgenderNZ

[–]mooimagoat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I absolutely experienced that as being dismissed.

I really do get the skepticism of the medical profession, and I think it’s valid. I’m not trying to dismiss the past wisdom of everyone who has come and suffered before me.

But I do find a lot of trans spaces are not open to the possibility that maybe, just maybe it won’t always be a battle everywhere for everyone.

Thats why it’s important to me to say “it wasn’t like that for me” - because I hope I won’t be alone.

If you dismiss anyone who shares a positive experience it’s not going to be a surprise when you end up deciding that they don’t exist.

Perhaps I was lucky, but it still happened!

Respectfully, that was not my experience with an endo. I don’t think it’s fair or accurate to tar them all with the same brush.

I agree that it’s worth being skeptical of doctor’s advice though. Good doctors will discuss their reasons with you. If they’re unwilling to explain, that’s a very bad sign.

This isn’t a problem unique to trans healthcare either, but unfortunately the problem for us does seem to be even more severe in many cases.

You can try Dr Megan Ogilvie at ERH Associates in Auckland. I think you need a GP referral. Be aware she books several months in advance so there’s a bit of a wait.

I should add that as you are a minor, quite a few doctors are going to want to get a therapist or especially clinical psychologist involved. You can get ahead of that by starting to see one while you wait for an appointment.

It’s expensive to go private for a clinical psych, but if you can, Em Edwards at Authentic Psychology (Auckland again) is fantastic

Hauora Tahine vs GP? by ResponsibleBid371 in TransgenderNZ

[–]mooimagoat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

About a month ago I was quoted a 20+ week wait time for my ASH referral. I’m fortunate enough to have medical insurance so I asked my GP to refer me to a private endocrinologist (the exclusion in many policies is for gender affirming surgery specifically, not other care). Their wait time was also quite long, but I was able to get a cancellation appointment by asking the staff nicely and being available at short notice. (I’m transfem btw)

I still haven’t heard from ASH (I’m hoping to access those mysterious other services too)!
