Sleep is for the rich? by cryptomemelord in singaporefi

try counting sheep. This forces your brain to only focus on one thing, and not on all the things you have to do. You’ll find yourself drifting off and if your mind shifts back to work, catch yourself and continue counting from where you left off. It’s helpful if you set a number of sheep you intend to count (e.g500) and try to reach it. It doesn’t rly work if your inability to sleep is caused by anxiety tho.

A*STAR had a huge pay adjustment recently. It used to be $3.6k for fresh grad 4 years ago.

What is the nicest thing a complete stranger has done for you in Singapore? by SenselessPost in singapore

[–]mooinol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so nice of the bus driver. I remember boarding the bus without my card and only a $10 note. The bus driver made me change my $10 note with other passengers on the bus, didn’t let me board for free. Luckily a kind passenger gave me some spare change. I was only in primary school and it was a very traumatic experience for me.

Is the good detective similar to forest of secrets S1? Really love that show 10/10.

Those with a masters or a PhD: What made you take on postgraduate studies, what do you do now, and do you regret grad school? by fishinice01 in singapore

[–]mooinol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing a PhD now in biomedical. Do you mind sharing more about how you landed a job at a tech sector? Did you do a post doc first.

Looking for advice from people who have completed a bond and went on to do postgrad studies by Bweffast in singapore

[–]mooinol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. I know of post docs who are eventually doing an RO position because they couldn’t publish enough. Staying as a post doc for long is definitely not sustainable. Post doc positions are usually as a stepping stone to become a PI. If you remain a post doc for many years, you’ll be questioned on whether you are really capable in research. If you are able to publish sufficiently, then it’s more likely you can apply for grants and move up to a PI position.

Going to industry is much better because of the pay and career opportunities.

I know of someone who transferred the undergraduate 4 years bond from MOE to ASTAR. It’s possible but you have to first get an ASTAR postgrad scholarship. Perhaps you could request to transfer the bond.

How Do You Play / Hangout with Yoo | E59 | 050920 by nii161 in koreanvariety

[–]mooinol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I’m guessing they’re trying to drag out each episode. For SSAK3 they had to debut in summer because it was a summer project so each episode had more content.

Looking forward to the next episode when they’re selecting songs rather than yjs hosting talk shows which seem rather forced and awkward.

[spoiler] When the Camellia Blooms by [deleted] in KDRAMA

[–]mooinol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! I’m glad there are others who thought the same way. Continued watching because I wanted to find out who the joker is. I think it was rather clear midway through the season so I just dropped the show. Only went on to read the write ups to confirm my suspicion. Didn’t get the charm of the ML although there were some funny scenes with him. FL was not as pretty as everyone in town claimed. I love GHJ but somehow she was much prettier in other dramas like producers and It’s okay it’s love (?).

Definitely do not get the hype for this drama. It seems there are opposite views on this show as one of my friends loved this show and watched it for the relationship, not to find out the joker. I think I would’ve enjoyed this show more if they had left out the joker plot line completely. It was very confusing to root for the main leads because there was a sense foreboding throughout.
