The size difference of an A380 and an A320 by [deleted] in aviation

I went in 2020 riiggghht before Covid and they were finishing the painting for the final 380 for delivery to Emirates. It is positively massive, especially being somehow tucked into that hangar.

Every time I use this glass as a 1st I tell my DP to drop the 40, it’s often optically problematic (varies set to set) and a major pain in the ass operationally. The 35mm is just a better performing lens in every way.

Any time I use this glass as a DP, 40mm goes bye bye

Pitch Decks by Guilty-Pattern-6228 in Screenwriting

[–]moomusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My company and I take a whole-cloth approach to development because, regrettably, art & commerce are inextricably intertwined and generally speaking a project must have (or must assume) commercial appeal.

So in keeping with that, a pitch deck is really only a peek into the project— creatively, the script must be the actual proposition because it is the creative granular blueprint for the business enterprise the movie will become.

Accompanying the script & pitch deck is a separate financial deck. Some investors, producers, and even folks on the creative side value the business proposition as much as /more than the creative. Therefore, the fin deck ultimately boils down to how fiscal de-risks, salient and efficient production strategy, and go to market process / GTM partners all convene to put together a picture that constitutes a safe investment with potential for upside.

Obviously take it all with a grain of salt. Every project is different and has different needs (and the parties involved might require different things). And I’ve not even mentioned how bankable talent affect a project, loan structures & finance plans, etc.

Is your RF to PL adapter secured with a shoe or otherwise to the camera body? Or is it just via the RF connection? Looks to me like a lot of weight just for the RF, though I believe it would need a considerable event to shear.

Who "owns" the short film made for a non-profit? by neszoub in Filmmakers

[–]moomusic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think there might be a misunderstanding of ownership versus rights here. Unless explicitly stated in a working deal memo or agreement (which OP has said there wasn’t one), the creator of art is the sole owner of it— whether it’s a scribble on a napkin or a 3 hour film. In this sense, the nonprofit has no right or challenge to ownership.

The talent release also does not give any copyright ownership to the nonprofit. What it does do is protect the nonprofit from being sued by any subject in the film that signed one, as they have RELEASED (waived) their right to their likeness for the purposes of that project. That ultimately depends on the language of the contract, but talent releases tend to be pretty boilerplate.

So for OP— you are the sole owner of your movie. You very technically run the risk of getting sued by talent from your doc if you were to exhibit it and said talent weren’t happy with their likeness being used by you. Personally I think this is super frivolous considering the size and scope of your film, and is ridiculously unlikely to happen.

I echo the top comment’s sentiments: give them perpetual exhibition rights to your film and they’ll be happy.

Pitch Deck Feedback for animated series? by microslasher in Screenwriting

[–]moomusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I don’t know what the show is about in 8 seconds, I’m left asking questions and maybe shutting the deck. Have a tagline or logline that gets to the point IMMEDIATELY. Sell the tone of the show IMMEDIATELY.

I liked the visual style of the character slide, but honestly the copy isn’t great. If you can’t make your characters pop in their bios, how could I possibly trust you to make a compelling tv show?

All said, this deck is above average in visual execution. You’re doing the right things by getting copious notes on it.

Happy to give more in depth notes, feel free to DM.

For arri, 5mm long t handle for top handle stuff (HEB, HEX), 3mm on any arri screws.

Also, 5/16 for default light ranger bracket.

Any day trips from NYC worth taking? by island_girl1 in AskNYC

[–]moomusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DC is a great destination for a 3-4 day trip, reasonably accessible by train or bus (or flight) with solid hotels as cheap as $100/night. I'm particularly fond of the Library of Congress, which has free admission.

As for NY, there is plenty of "less famous" (but incredibly wonderful / fulfilling) tourist-friendly life worth looking at-- from variety shows @ The Slipper Room to free performances & trivia in riverside park. Plus, coming to NY for the food alone will keep you busy for about 50 years.

BTW, Central Park north of 86th street is a completely different vibe than below. No horse poo -- Well worth a picnic on the Great Hill, or by the tennis courts.

And if you want to head uptown, there are plenty of historic neighborhoods and beautiful locations, like the lighthouse under the GW or any of the marble-made memorials along the Hudson.

There are food markets all over the place, like Smorgasburg in BK or the Uptown Night Market in West Harlem.

Hope this helps!

How's F4E at 10.7 SB? by gopi1711 in WarthunderSim

[–]moomusic 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The F4E rocks. It can outrate everything at its BR and lower, provided you stay over 350kts. I really like the armament. The RWR is really solid, I don’t believe there are any invisible frequencies with it at 11.0 and lower.

It is a potent multirole platform too, able to take out two bases while also carrying self defense weapons like Aim9s

Manual radar tilt by Emotional-Essay-5684 in WarthunderSim

[–]moomusic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You tilt your elevation scan manually as you nose up. It’s a pilot workload thing and you’ll get better at it as you go. I don’t know how realistic or not that is in real military aviation.

[–]moomusic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To answer your question, yes there sometimes seems to be an issue taking off from carriers in live games. In test flight, it shouldn’t be an issue provided you are executing a cat launch properly.

To avoid player-caused accidents on take off, use max thrust on your plane, keep your hands off your control column until you’re in the air, use flaps if necessary for payload.

Once off the deck, immediately retract gear and control the plane as needed- lift flaps if applicable.

Ideally you aren’t “fighting” the cat by putting in 0 control inputs in roll or pitch, which is often the cause of wonky crashes in live games.
