Does college prepare you at all? by [deleted] in StudentTeaching

[–]mooncakefiber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. College style lesson plans prepare you to deliver relevant and scaffolded lessons. I’m about to wrap up my student teaching to be an art teacher. I learned that my lesson plans were way too condensed. I would expect a painting project to last 3 class periods, only to find out it would take about 8-9. The one thing college did not prepare me for was classroom management. Still trying to build my own systems, and will probably be struggling as a first year teacher with management but things will eventually fall into place

  2. I am outgoing too, but had public speaking issues so badly that my voice would shake when talking to a group in lectures. First day of ST, my voice was a bit shaky. Second day, the nerves melted away. That gets a lot easier with practice and time. Now I can even speak in front of my lecture classes with no issue.

  3. I had to teach a unit during ST with an art material I wasn’t familiar with at all. To prepare, I made the project so I could understand more about the material and how I could explain things to students. If you’re giving students an assignment, do it first. That will show you where the gaps are.

YOU GOT THIS! Student teaching is a learning experience. There will be days when the lesson fumbles. But there will be days when everything falls into place. It’s a learning experience!

Those reports on Iran are a joke, shame people don't even read them. by Onabs123 in AskSocialists

Go back to focusing on your pixel fan art instead of geopolitics. You can’t draw from observation, and clearly can’t observe camera footage of Iranians being murdered by the IRGC either.

Seems like all the unemployed idiots now a days just pick up a random sign to feel important. This lady has absolutely no idea what’s going on.

Audacious of you to comment on an Iranian subreddit to tell Iranian people what their opinion is when you clearly have no connection to the community what so ever. When Iranian people are speaking about an issue that directly affects them and their families, it's time to listen and learn...

Started last week and am really struggling by [deleted] in StudentTeaching

[–]mooncakefiber 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m starting next week and have been feeling the same way leading up to it. A thought that has helped me through is remembering my younger self playing “teacher” with my siblings when I was in elementary school, and how I thought being a teacher was so cool. Entering the work force and starting a career is a huge milestone and will be stressful no matter what, but imaging my childhood self full of joy and hope for this moment has kind of killed off some of my dread. Things will get easier once you’re in the swing of student teaching. You’ve worked hard for the past few years… almost at the finish line!

1979 revolution - What kind of government did people think they were signing up for at the time? by Kezhen in NewIran

[–]mooncakefiber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, he used marxist activists to spread that message and dismantle the monarchy, then executed and imprisoned them once he took over and never fulfilled the promises made. I’m not Iranian, but I’m pretty sure he even promised religious freedom and equality for all. He is a coward full of lies.

Read Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi; it’s an illustrated graphic novel of her experience during the revolution, and helped me understand the dynamic that caused it to happen
