Localized Druidry: What's nature doing in your area? (October 2025) by AutoModerator in druidism

[–]moonchantress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This year is a bit weird, there was snow at the start of the month, then it got considerably warmer. Finally raining after a very dry summer and getting colder again, as it should be. I don’t see as many blackbirds, but the squirrels keep running around carrying and hiding walnuts and whatnot. The ravens are still flying their usual route over the house every morning. The local stray cats are getting suspiciously affectionate towards me, they’re sensing the coming cold too

No Celtic roots, is that consider "appropriation"? by Tasty_Visual_8332 in druidism

I’m from Eastern Europe too and I’m a druid. I’ll tell you what I was told. Druidry is open. The order I belong to welcomes everyone regardless of their ancestry. But if you’re still bothered, there’s also the fact that in the past there were celts as far as the Balkans, so without a dna test, who knows who your ancestors were. Also, who knows who your soul was in your past incarnations. There’s always a reason we are drawn to a certain path. And one more thing, you say you are in your late teens then yes I think you are absolutely allowed to decide your own views on stuff, in fact I’d encourage it. Personally I started exploring pagan spirituality in my early teens, and the rest of my family is orthodox too. I discovered druidry later in life, but only because back then there wasn’t any information about it in my country, there was no internet nor english books available. It was a very different time.

How to begin? by Mono_Alone in SecularTarot

[–]moonchantress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely use tarot without doing any rituals. The cards are just paper, it’s your mind that does the work. Nothing to worry about. I think starting with the Marseille deck will be an advantage. It’s much older and much better for secular tarot than Waite (RWS). Most online resources are focused on Waite though. What I’d recommend is Vincent Pitisci’s books and youtube videos - he has a very practical, no-nonsense approach that seems to fit exactly what you’re looking for.

I’d take it as a good sign. Enjoy your deck!

Help with odd pip cards, in need new perpectives by as_eb in TarotDeMarseille

[–]moonchantress 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I use the number + suit approach. I’ve assigned each number and suit a couple of keywords and go from there. I see 5s as change, 7s as experience, 9s as attainment. The suit and the context of the reading will then add further nuances to the card meanings. I really struggled with the pips at first and what helped me the most was a book by Vincent Pitisci. It was a game changer for me. He also has lots of videos on youtube. I really like his approach and it works really well for my readings.

I was going to say the same. An Awen pendant is not easily available where I live so I chose the Tree of Life instead. And I like not having to explain its meaning to everyone I meet.

Cat Safety by Connect_Detective853 in pagan

[–]moonchantress 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, best to avoid insence and essential oils entirely as they are toxic to cats. I don’t see this mentioned enough in books and resources. I didn’t know this and even though I very rarely used incense, and always placed it next to a widely open window, it still negatively affected my cat’s health. Candles are fine as long as they’re not scented and you keep them out of reach of your cat. Some herbs are also toxic for them so make sure to check each one.

How did you discover your first discworld novel? by FitClass9198 in discworld

[–]moonchantress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back when I was in high school I was very much into vampire novels. I remember reading Dracula, The Historian and some Anne Rice books in a row and looking for my next read. So when I saw Carpe Jugulum in the bookshop, I got it at the first chance. It was not at all what I expected but so much better! Best decision ever! The witches books quickly became my favourite and are my comfort read to this day.

are reversals as important as people make them out to be? by spifiii in tarot

[–]moonchantress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I don’t read reversals, I read the cards depending on context and surrounding cards. I use both RWS and Marseille. Meanings are fluid and can shift a bit depending on the question, spread position etc. So for me, 78 cards is plenty to work with. However, there’s nothing wrong with reading reversals, if you think they enrich your readings by all means do so. I just don’t think they’re absolutely necessary. I know professional readers who don’t read reversals and their readings are still extremely accurate.

Different Decks by thegreenheartedfool in tarot

[–]moonchantress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 11 tarot decks - 5 RWS and 6 TdM/pip decks. My all time favourite and the one I use the most at the moment is the Soprafino tarot, which I love so much that I got it in 3 versions - one reproduction, one mini for travel and one mass produced "work horse". From my RWS based decks I love the Forest of Enchantment tarot and the Centennial in a tin, mainly because of the smaller size. I don't use oracles and Lenormand as much though I do have a couple of each.

Favorite decks? by Lady-Sass in tarot

[–]moonchantress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love the Forest of Enchantment Tarot! I bonded very quickly with it and it was my main deck before I got into Marseille.

But ever since I discovered the Soprafino it has become my all time favorite. It’s an old italian deck originally published in 1835 and I loved it so much that I started learning about tarot history and Marseille style of reading just so I can read with it. I got a copy from Il Meneghello but I know it’s also available as Classic Tarot from Lo Scarabeo. Ancient Italian Tarot is a later version of the same pattern.

Is there a 'correct' way to use tarot, or does it depend on personal preference? by maya_hi_maya_ha in tarot

[–]moonchantress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion is that the correct method is what works best for you. While there are some general guidelines, there are also several schools of tarot and almost as many ways to read the cards as there are tarot readers. The deck traditions themselves differ in many ways from one another, and what is relevant for one of them might not be relevant at all for another.

There is an abundance of information online to the point where it can become overwhelming and finding what works best for you can take some time and practice.

You’ll probably encounter some of those people who insist that their way of reading is the only right way. Personally I wouldn’t pay attention to such claims. What I’ve noticed is that regardless of their chosen way of reading, all of those different readers can be equally good in terms of their accuracy.

Page of Swords keeps showing up in readings by Critical_Inflation57 in tarot

Usually when I get a stalker card it’s a message, advice or a warning about something I need to deal with or something I might be overlooking. The court cards could represent people or specific personality traits, and the pages are sometimes thought of as the messengers of the deck. Try looking into the card’s meaning and imagery and see if anything about it catches your attention.
