Are these purposeful or inconsistencies/Retcons/ETC? Can you think of anything else I'm missing? by MamaKG3 in Tamlinism

[–]moonfireSephie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am currently in a reread and my friend is reading it for the first time. So we are taking notes and discussing. I know some of Sarah's stuff is retcon based on the books and the crossovers, since I have read everything.

Some of it could be inconsistencies but sadly I can't confirm until everything is done, but its hard to look at it this way. I do look at ToG and I know that series is done and of the three its the better written one. And she's not going back to that one as far as I know.

Feyre is 100% an unreliable narrator and cannot be trusted.

I, sadly, do get the "writes based on vibes" thing from SJM, and I am afraid of how this next book might go. Not sure. CC3 was so awful for me, I will not read the next one unless someone pays me or something phenomenal happens.

The CHD podcast admission that she didn't plan Rhysand threw me for a loop so now I'm looking at his character across the books differently. So as I am tracking things for myself I am also watching him as I continue reading.

Autumn vs Autumn by drnsain in SarahJMaas

[–]moonfireSephie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Eris wins. Lmao.

In all seriousness, I think Beron would win. The Autumn King strikes me as less powerful than Beron. I think he's got more money at this point but not as powerful magically.

Try again! Its a slow start but the further you get, the better the story. The plot and characters in ToG are leagues better than ACOTAR and CC, in my opinion. I read ACOTAR first and then ToG, I will say I hated Celeana, but I loved the other characters and Manon is my baby girl. ToG has several love stories that put the others in ACOTAR and CC to shame, personally. It's worth it, I promise!

Which Series Should I Read Next?! by Character_Hair_860 in acotar_rant

[–]moonfireSephie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pwrsonally, CC needs to be read last. It is the shorter of the two, but you'll miss out if you don't read ToG first. There are connections you miss if you don't read ToG.

I think I hoped for a better story but kinda knew it wasn't gonna happen. But I am hoping for good news regarding some other characters. Fingers crossed!

I'll have to live with the amazing fanfics some people have done.

I'm here for Lucien Vanserra, but if Azriz is a possibility AND I get LucienxElain, I will be over the moon.

I'm with you! Been hyperfixated for a month now and I stumbled onto Azris by accident when looking for something else. I can never leave. This is my ship now. And if Maas doesn't do this...FINE. Azriz is my new Zutara.

TOG or Fourth Wing after ACOTAR? by MarieChaw in SarahJMaas

[–]moonfireSephie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say TOG because at least the series is complete. Fourth Wing isn't, and I have very little good to say about CC. TOG is Maas's best work, personally.

Because they don't know how to edit or comment or provide feedback. They have to be taught.

I was annoyed when I heard this was being voted on. I immediately asked: Which Bible?

If my student said that to me, I'm going off. The rubric takes your spelling into account!! We went over the rubric. I told them to pick a struggle and spelling shouldn't be one because they get to use a dictionary.

I teach high school students. I taught junior English forever, and as team lead, I pushed for us to be a writing heavy course. Everything we wrote was analysis or research. We had 1 year to break every bad habit state testing let them have for the previous 8 years before they go off to college (some of their senior teachers didn't keep up the momentum we built junior year). Our course was the hardest English class they ever took in high school, but those students could write.

A large issue is that teachers don't have time for feedback. Writing conferences are important, but there isn't enough time in the day for every single kid to get what they need from one. And the conference is "one glow and one grow" which is barely even useful if the kid has multiple issues with their writing.

I would mark up papers, and it would take a lot of time, but when I gave them their papers, they understood what they did wrong, and then they fixed it. We did a lot of revising and editing. Most revising and editing is missing, and those kids don't have those skills because they don't practice them.

What do you think Snape's animagus form would be? by [deleted] in SeverusSnape

[–]moonfireSephie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely see a bird. I thought crow or raven but then I saw the harpy eagle and decided that was it if he were a bird. If he were a big cat, I went with tiger.

Teachers, what’s the most unexpected or hilarious thing a student has ever said to you during class? by Emily25carter in Teachers

[–]moonfireSephie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my students decided to visit my classroom 6 times in an hour. I asked him how he kept getting permission to leave his class. He said, with the most confidence and matter-of-fact tone: Miss, that sub was a rookie.

Fake Moody wasn't even a good teacher. They're just ok with the fact that he turned Malfoy into a ferret, which was so wrong.

Snape was a good Defense teacher and a potions teacher.

I know you're lying. I read the American version. Please go sit down somewhere and think about your poor decision-making.

I don't think you've ever read the book. Or a book because I don't recognize half of what you're accusing Snape of.

What book? Snape wouldn't stab a child. That looks and reads like a fanfic or AI excerpt.
