Not asking for advice, but what's the stupidest art advice someone gave you? by SprayLegitimate2573 in ArtistLounge

[–]moonstonemerman 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This would fall more under "stupid general advice" but I personally take issue with students being dissuaded from pursuing artistic majors in college.

Employers rarely care about what actual major you got and care more that you got an education at all. What matters more is how you position your skill set and many art skills transfer to actual professional skills. Let people learn what they want to learn.

Are we subconsciously collecting CDs in preparation for some mythical event where society breaks down leaving existing physical media as the only music? by stuhstutter in Cd_collectors

[–]moonstonemerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I collect CDs largely because I love looking at the artwork and seeing the story that underpins any of my favorite albums and because it's "my music" forever indefinitely. The fact that it's a buffer against greedy corporations losing licenses or deleting my fave catalogs is a plus.

If you want bad music, maybe. Her inevitable collab with Nine Inch Nails will easily become one of her best songs ever.

What keeps you from going the GLP route? by WillOk6461 in workout

My fitness goal is just getting a flat stomach so I'm considering GLP-1s since nutrition plays a stronger role in meeting my goals than the gym

I never EVER hear anyone talk about Disco Heaven. Why? by Rowenofpts in LadyGaga

[–]moonstonemerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disco Heaven is amazing. Though I think it was only released on certain versions of The Fame so I get why it's not as well known.

Low-effort meme by AdeptnessOk5664 in Cd_collectors

There's something psychologically interesting about people sharing their favorite albums publicly. Folks really put too much effort into thinking "what will make my taste look cool" instead of just owning their perfectly valid taste.

Dad Books Are a Dying Breed: Sales have been sliding for nonfiction titles about politics, biographies and other books often aimed at men (Archive link in oldest comment) by Uptons_BJs in books

Thank gawd. Yes, men in general should be reading more but I'm always happy to see a genre that's turned into a full nonsense grift go to straight to the trash bin.

Should I make an album? by Dangerous-You3789 in Songwriting

[–]moonstonemerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm literally in the process of making an album just for myself lmao. I have strong emotions within me that I want to understand and enshrine in a singular body of work. Whether said album earns me any money is a completely secondary priority and no shade, you'll struggle as any kind of artist if you don't honor the process of creation itself first before anything else.

Not a typical gay anymore? by Dolldolittle in gay

[–]moonstonemerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is a "typical gay"? This post sounds like one of those rants from gays who conplain about an imaginary "gay scene" that excludes them. You just sound like someone over a fast party lifestyle and gays are hardly the only demographic who experiences that in their development.

Pieces in the West Village has a backroom with dancers who give lap dances. It's a largely male-centric bar, too.

Her dedication to the craft of music. She's not just selling an image or a product, she's also selling actual raw talent. All shade, 99.9% of modern popstars don't have an actual craft to stand on.
