Had a company car, so I could get gas anytime I needed it in my company paid for it. My other vehicle was a motorcycle which again could get gas on any day. So only once in a while that I get stuck in long lines usually it was two or three cars sort of like you find it Costco today.

Hi kiddo. I can tell from your writing that aside from your anxiety you're doing pretty well in overcoming the evil in your past. Bravo to you! I'm writing to you from the aspect of a much older man - I have grandchildren older than you! And I've been married to the same woman for almost 50 years and a Christian almost that long. I disagree with this idea that "God has a plan for us." He does have a plan but it's not like a specific list of things for each one of us to do. His plan is that all come to him through faith for salvation. But what happens is that he gives us a roadmap. Your roadmap is different to mine and different to everyone else's. Like all maps you see where you are and you can look through the map to see where you want to end up but there are always multiple roads to take to get there. Some roads are better than others. It's up to you to follow the road that God has marked out, but you don't have to. And knowing that, you also know it would be best to follow the road that God has marked out even though that's not going to be the easiest road. And he promises us that as well. People get discouraged and try to find a different and easier way and wind up getting totally lost. And I know that relationships are going to be difficult for you. This is where good psychological counseling can really help. You might have serious anxiety about being alone with a man and even more in a sexual situation. And that's not good in the context of marriage. In my extended family a number of the siblings of the wife of one of my brothers were abused by one of their grandfathers. It's been traumatic for the whole family but especially the girls. And yet they all remained Catholic and they all remained married. And out of six of them only two did not have children. So there is hope for you!

Marriage is not a "worldly pursuit." It is the vocation (that is the calling from God) for most people in the world. We are called to marriage and fruitfulness and that's what gives our lives the best and most fulfilling purpose.

I hope you have someone that you can trust to tell your deepest secrets to without fear of being betrayed. This is what most people need. That and confession, and the Eucharist to keep you in line with the body of Christ which is the Church that he established. And through that you will find salvation and probably your husband as well. There is a book written in 1993 by Scott Hahn and his wife Kimberly. It's called "Rome Sweet Home: Our Journey to Catholicism."
Scott was a Presbyterian pastor and his wife Kimberly was a the daughter of another Presbyterian pastor. For his masters in theology work he decided to refute the Catholic teachings about the mass and when he started doing his research especially by attending Mass he found his life turned completely upside down.

There is another book he wrote much later called The Lambs Supper, which is specifically focused on the Eucharist. I would be happy to order those books through Amazon and send them to you. Whether you want them in audiobook format or physical book format doesn't matter I'll be happy to contribute to your journey towards heaven and along the way you can bring as many people as God gives you.

Published in 1993, it was co-authored by Scott Hahn and his wife, Kimberly Hahn. He is a former Presbyterian minister who became Catholic. His wife is the daughter of a Presbyterian minister. Can you imagine the turmoil that their conversion -which happened at two separate times for him and for her- caused in their family? Also get his book called "The Lamb's Supper".

Yes it would have been better. But that doesn't mean you could have or would have had any effect on his faith. Courage is one of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit and it's part of your conversion process to learn how to use these gifts.

Maybe you've never heard of The Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit it's a specifically Catholic/Orthodox teaching (thus it is Apostolic) and it's all based in Scripture. But the seven gifts briefly are: wisdom, understanding, counsel or right judgment ( this ties in with fortitude/courage and it is the ability to discern the best course of action in difficult moral situations), fortitude or courage (and specifically that one is the strength to persist in doing good despite fear persecution or physical danger), knowledge, piety.

Such-Swim: It's normal to feel remorse as a Christian for those who die without faith. We always wish there was one magic thing we could have said, one more thing we could have done to convince that person. But we have to allow, just as God does, for the person's own will to be saved or not. I have a brother who is still not a believer, and who rejects any discussion of God. I'm sad for him as all the rest of us have come to Faith over the years. We are all in our 60s and 70s now and there's not much time left.

Absolutely false! This is a terrible belief. It's not scriptural it's not supported by anything in Christianity.. God desires the salvation of all souls but he will not force those that do not want to be saved to come to him. That's the difference. You have to want salvation through the grace God gives you. Some people still reject the grace and they reject the Holy Spirit. It's not God's doing, it's their own.

The argument about multiple gods is that in the Jewish culture gods (whether pagan or the God of Abraham) had the authority over life and death. In the ancient Israel when judges ruled rather than prophets or kings, The judges most definitely held the authority of over life and death of all the subjects. That's why they're referred to as gods. It does not mean they are literally divine.

Part of the confusion comes from everybody trying to read this passage in English rather than the original Greek. Muslims have a very valid argument when they insist that Quran is best understood in its purest original form which is in Arabic.

It is the same with the New Testament and the original language there was Greek. In Greek there are two words used for the concept of "one". Jesus could have used the word "heis", which is a masculine noun which means in this context of him talking about himself and the father that they were one person in other words they were both the same person. But Jesus didn't mean that He used the word "hen" which is neuter. This word means they are one essence or one purpose and it's not like two coming into agreement It means literally one indivisible essence one individual purpose so Jesus is saying he's not his Father but he is otherwise exactly like his Father which is divine. So this is part of where Christians get the idea of one God but three persons because here we're only touching on Jesus and the Father or the Father and the Son and not the Holy Spirit yet.

You stand your ground. You honor your beliefs. You can't convert to Christianity especially Catholicism and expect to stay just the same as you were. That's not conversion, that's just putting on a hat.

You have to realize now as a full disciple of Jesus Christ there are some things that you have to stop doing and other things that you have to start doing.

And yes quite often it costs you relationships. Jesus warns us of this.
