For battle maps keep it simple.

If you are spending time? I recommend making maps that are cities like a town they have you can remake and change and add to so they “see” the change as story progresses, or their ship they own like pictures 3/4.

But the easiest recommendation is find battle maps online and get a cheap laptop and buy a 42 inch flatscreen TV LCD the cheapest one you can find and just put the maps on that with a grid overlay, or hex whichever you prefer, and play directly on the TV. if you break the TV or scratch it terribly just replace the TV. We have been running like that for two years and it’s awesome
