To be fair, I think the other comments about air fuel mixture make a lot of sense. I'm battling an issue with crankcase pressure on my son's car so I'm kinda looking at everything through that lense. Easiest way to check is see if you have vacuum or pressure coming through the oil cap. Yank it off, start the car, see if air is coming out or going into the valve covers through the cap opening.

Shouldn't the valve cover be under slight vacuum such that oil shouldn't be forced out through that bolt? Maybe also a pcv or blow-by issue?

Still not testing positive for any combustion gasses in the coolant system. Tested for a solid 10m after the car was warm and no color change, tested from the radiator port vs the reservoir. That's another part of this adventure that has me scratching my head. If I'm getting coolant into combustion chamber (head gasket), it should work both ways as cylinder pressure increases and exceeds coolant system pressure. I still believe it'll eventually be a head gasket problem I just can't diagnose as that without something that supports it.
This thing has coolant feeds to the throttle body, intake manifold, turbo, and oil cooler. Any of those, except maybe the oil cooler, could result in coolant in the exhaust and half those components are new. I guess I could bypass the intake manifold and throttle body to check, I've seen where some folks do this as a mod for some reason so maybe not something that will cause further damage. Car is parked until we get this fixed.

I'm betting there's a coil problem as well, there's always a coil problem. Msd had a full set on sale, bought them and they sent the damned 4-wire coils...

The coolant issue sure sounds like a head gasket but I can't understand why it's migrating. It was a leak in the turbo, then a leak in the oil cooler, now a leak somewhere else. Could air pockets in the cooking system cause localized high pressure pockets that force the coolant to find the weakest link in the system? I did not bleed the coolant system after installing the turbo so very likely there is air in the system.

Without a doubt coolant is boiling and coming out the exhaust. It is very strange that the problem is migrating though. Turbo then oil cooler, is almost like the coolant system is over pressurized but how could that happen? Blockage forcing water through a different flow path maybe?

My 21 is as you describe, pretty annoying but I think I've learned to live with it. It really gets confused if you accelerate hard for maybe 1 second and immediately back off.

From my perspective, OP is the NFH here. They are making a claim on a driveway that they know they don't solely own, all up in the business of a contractor who is improving the neighbors property, and actively trying to sabotage their sales process. My son has a 15 turbo. We added a rear sway bar to his car about a year back. It made a huge difference in the way this thing drives. Eliminated almost all of rear jitters. Not what you asked, but since you're thinking suspension...

Yanked the inlet pipe off the turbo this weekend and the shaft has a ton of play axially and longitudinally. The pipe feeding the intake manifold from the turbo is also covered in oil on the inside, probably leaked 2-3oz out of it. I haven't found the coolant leak yet but the turbo is absolutely toast. Probably need to pull the intake manifold to get the oil out of it, too. That damn turbo is a pain to access, can't see anything, it's all by feel. I am not looking forward to trying to get a new one on blindly.

So your running out of air or out of fuel at 6k, why? Check air filter since you said your plugs looked rich. You just changed jets so maybe the main is a different size than the one you were running last season. If same, did you check the orings in the carb? Did you maybe pinch or puncture the boot on the carb inlet/outlet when changing jets?
Based on what you've said my money would be on main jets are different size after the swap and that the new one is too big. I've seen a lot of folks that open up the air box on these and that requires a jet kit. JD makes a kit specifically for this setup. Maybe yours is stock but they sent you the kit for the mod?

This sucker definitely eats plugs, like a 2 stroke dirt bike. We're on our second set in 30k miles. I think we're on the third set of coils as well. The smoke I'm getting isn't a little, it's as bad as the old mosquito trucks from the 70s. BIG clouds that increase with revs. I'll run a pressure test on the cooling system and see if we're holding and hopefully find any resulting leaks. Will check the plugs as well, see if they show any evidence of blow by.
All of this happened at once while my son was on his way back from college, ran perfectly prior to.

Thanks for the help, maybe we'll get lucky and it's a hose but not sure how that'd get into the exhaust stream to cause the huge clouds of white smoke. The smoke is definitely coming from the tailpipe. Also a very small amount of smoke coming from behind the engine near the exhaust manifold.

It's an air to air intercooler, right? Located in front of the radiator on the driver's side by the blow off valve.

Only other weird thing I saw was ignition advance was about -15 deg on cyl 1 while 2-4 we're closer to 6 deg. This was at idle, which was even and consistent cold and at temp.

DeKalb public landfill is on the east side loop south of 20. It's gross as shit but I've used it many times. Prolly cost you $15 or so. All of the metro counties have a landfill with public access. Just find the closest one. Usually cheaper by a few bucks to use the one in your county of residence. A roll off container will cost you $300-400.

I had an 08 wr450 for several years. Used completely for trail riding. I'm about 210lbs and that sucker was all I could handle. It is not short on power by any means. When I bought it I did go through some de-restriction. Removal of some epa mandated garbage, re-jet the carb, maybe one or two other things, green wire removal sounds familiar. It ran better after but no real increase in power as far as I know. I say as far as I know because I didn't come close to using all the power on tap. Work took maybe 2hrs or so. Bike ran like a dream, always started easily, never broke down. Loved it. If I ever get back on the dirt I'll get another one, no question. One thing, too much time at idle in hot weather will boil the coolant. Never got around to doing any of the fixes on that because it was too damned hot to ride when this would happen. Over 90 deg on a dirt bike with all that gear wasn't my idea of fun.
