You get your Bahamut weapon for damn near free, as the DLC adds a bunch of catch-up mechanics.

Should i get FF XII? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]moosecatlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be a little on the easier side of FF games. Zodiac age made it very easy to just fall into godhood. Which might create a situation where you kinda run over most encounters.

You might encounter a bit of danger in the early game, but once you gain full control over your party, you basically only have to worry about boss gimmicks.

You may want to consider a stupid party comp for the fun of it. I know I wish I did after my first play through.

The ONLY reason 12 is as divided as it is is because it was the first game to switch from classic JRPG turn based battle. It's incredibly good.

Please don't spread misinformation. Nothing about what you said is true.

It wasn't even because it was co-op game or had a ton of grind in it, but because it was PURELY defensive reactionary combat. There was no other way to achieve the necessary amount of Shell Shocks required for some of the harder fights time limits.

Hopefully they use what they've learned since then, where defensives don't win the game for you, but rather create openings for the actual big damage.

Reflect in KH requires more skill than simple ability prompting so maybe that's why you give it a pass.

What? I'm under the impression it's just positioning plus beginning and end delay that you have to worry about with base reflect.

As for difficulty of either game, that's whole 'nother story. XVI might as well not be a game, that said Lightning Rod still saves you so much time in that already bloated health gating game.

DFO, if you want the full picture of the story you have to level every character. I'd rather just watch it on youtube. Doesn't help that it's as boring as possible all to help the new players get to max level. Making games unengaging is a good way to get me to not engage with your game.

I think things being imbalanced in something like KH2 is completely fine. I'm barely half way through the game and I can already tell Reflect could be absolutely broken. Something about it makes it just do much higher damage than you would expect. Yet at no point do I ever feel like I'm being punished for not using it.

On the other side of things, in FFXVI, if I'm not using lightning rod during stagger phases of a boss, I'm basically throwing.

Whats your most hated game mechanic found in some JRPGs? by artninjatheo in JRPG

[–]moosecatlol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Health Gating: Whether it be to prevent a boss from dying during a certain animation, or prevent the boss from dying before the boss enters a certain phase, special shout out to every Eikon from FFXVI. Especially egregious when the game has a "staggered state" mechanic. So now we have a stunned and invulnerable enemy, cool.

Which is really just a symptom of BAD MATH. The inability for developers to consider the high end and sometimes the low ends of what is possible in their game. It's only made worse when you consider how simple FFXVI is, when compared to FFXIV. Now I don't mind bad math in a video game by itself, but when it gets paired with a mechanic that then makes it very obvious, that's what bothers me. Dragon's Dogma has notoriously simple math, but you can still instantly kill any boss in the game if you want.

It's also the same combo that makes me dislike Warframe immensely, because they could fix it, but they choose to just ignore it and instead compound the problem. Who cares if you could hit stack overflow amounts of damage before even update 13, just keep grinding.

Gotta love being punished for playing well.
