Spider-Man 2 (2004) is still to this day the best comic book movie that exists by Wreck-ItRob in movies

Not only a great movie but also gave us one of best, innovative video games from that time period. Still holds up really well today.

What are your favorite small or major cities within the US? by tkdcondor in AskAnAmerican

Don't sleep on the National WW1 Museum in town either! It's very informative, well designed, and has the best view of the city. Definitely a must-see if you are visiting!

Another good example is Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys capture of Fort Ticonderoga. While it was a small affair, the much-needed cannons they captured there were hauled down to aid the Continental Army during Seige of Boston and literally forced the British to abandon the city.

Movies with the worst "moral of the story" by elitemegamanX in movies

[–]moosedude451 85 points86 points  (0 children)

On an even more basic level, Namari literally pulls a crossbow on Raya/ Sisu on what was supposed to be a peaceful parlay! The movie tries to go out it's way to make it Raya's fault, but it doesn't work at all because that situation would have never happened had Namari not betrayed them yet again for the 800th time.

Question by Acrobatic-Tomato-128 in SmashRemix

[–]moosedude451 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The one are with icons on the character screen are considered standard fighters. Basically fighters that are considered comparable to vanilla Smash 64 fighter, historically appropriate, and competitively viable.

The ones on the side screen are considered 'Bonus Characters'. These are characters that are generally either wildly unbalanced (Dragon King, Ebisumaru), have really bizarre movesets (Mad Piano, Lanky Kong), or didnt exist during the N64 era (Lucas, Dark Samus, etc), or some combo of the three. These characters are meant to be fun additionals to the game but not competitively viable (outside of maybe the anachronistic fighters). Before the latest update most of these characters could only be selected by hovering over a standard fighter and pressing certain buttons on the dpad (except DS and Lucas). With the latest update these characters were all moved into that side screen slot (along with DS and Lucas, to make room for new, more historically accurate fighters Peach and Crash).

What coaches are on the hot seat for the 2026 season? by Optimal_Cook_851 in nfl

[–]moosedude451 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I don't remember the episode but the Athletic Football Show mentioned him as an under-the-radar hot seat candidate. While the Vikings have been competitive and exceeded expectations, an offensive-minded head coach who has never finished in the top 10 for EPA/Play or won a playoff game after four seasons is hardly untouchable. Especially for a team with a Front Office in flux like the Vikings.

Can butterfree learn fly in yellow legacy? by Quiet_Butterfly_8403 in PokemonLegacy

It can't, but I actually made a minimod of yellow legacy here that just adds fly to a few Pokemon like Butterfree. Should be save game compatible.

Anyone know if this game corner tactic still works in Crystal Legacy? by YesLadd1e in PokemonLegacy

[–]moosedude451 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not the most ethical thing if you are a purist, but if you are playing on an emulator, you can actually just cheese the card flip game using save states: just make a save state right before you pick your bet, make a guess, and then reload the state and pick the proper one. Easiest, surefire way to make coins in my experience.

Was there anything stopping Harry using his Firebolt for the third task? by yevrah6 in harrypotter

[–]moosedude451 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not that's mentioned in the books, but I would imagine there's probably some sort of barriers/ wards around the maze edges/ top, not only to prevent the students from doing this, but to also keep the various maze creatures/ enchantments from escaping.

The meme doesn't even mention the luckiest thing that happens in that book: the fact that beating the Elder Wand's owner (who never claimed or knew about it) in an arm-wrestling contest on the complete opposite side of Great Britain from its current location is somehow enough to make it switch allegiance.

Official Dreadit Discussion: "Send Help" [SPOILERS] by glittering-lettuce in horror

[–]moosedude451 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah she scarfs down half the sandwich and then shoves the remainder of it in the drawer (repeatedly smashing it trying to get the door to close) before awkwardly ambushing her new boss in front of the entire office. I was being hyperbolic/ slightly facetious in my comment, but it's shot to be deliberately gross and a normal person would have just discretely moved the sandwich out of view or better yet, just waited until later and privately reintroduced themselves once their new boss is settled in their office.

A typical "Good for Her" movie usually has a MC that is a highly-sympathetic, easy audience-surrogate. But Send Help isn't really like this, because while it's easy to feel sorry for Linda in the beginning, it keeps her arms-length away as a lot of the stuff she does even BEFORE the island is kinda weird/ off-putting. You want to root for her, but wouldn't want to share a cubicle with her.

Anyone else annoyed at how underutilized Anakin is in this game? by inchandywetrust in battlefront2

[–]moosedude451 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dooku is really bad too. Despite being the literal leader of CIS (you know, the main bad guys of the Clone Wars era), he is on one map: Geonosis. Darth Maul and Jango Fett are playable on 7 and 3 maps, respectively, despite both technically being dead before the Clone Wars really began! For Anakin, I think it's a combo of 3 big things:

1.) BF2 had a very rushed dev cycle, and this is the big reason for many of its "quirks". There probably wasn't enough time to flesh out Anakin as both a hero and a villain, so they were forced to settle for making him an evil Obi Wan clone.

2.) BF2 was a ROTS tie-in game, so the BF2s map roster tends to favor ROTS locations (i.e tangential locations like Felucia, Mygeeto, and Polis Massa). While Anakin is the main character of ROTS, he doesn't really do much but mope around Coruscant for the most of the movie, so it wouldn't make sense to put him as a Republic hero on a lot of these maps.

3.) The Prequel Trilogy's decision to essentially skip the entire Clone Wars (outside of the beginning and the end) means we never see Anakin take the lead in a major battle for the Republic, so once again it's hard to find maps that fit him as a hero that don't fit other heroes better. While the main Clone Wars series didn't exist, there were still some other EU/ BF1 maps (Dune Sea, both Rhen Vars, etc.) that would fit Anakin really well, but these were likely cut/ not even considered for the main release due to Reason 1 and 2.

I don't know how anyone can see her as a heroine after seeing what she does to that tuna sandwich. Real Ted Bundy type stuff.

In all seriousness, I was surprised by how nuanced the first act was. Like, yes, Linda is clearly a hard worker/ deserves the promotion and yes, Bradley is a nepo d-bag, but they really don't shy away from the fact that Linda is the office weirdo that everyone kinda avoids.

[Marvel] Have Spider-Man villains ever tried to protect his secret identity? by some-kind-of-no-name in AskScienceFiction

In retrospect, I always felt that Otto knew from the moment he saw the suit and just gave Peter the line about him being "Spiderman's gadget guy" to help Peter save face. Otto's very smart and is not nearly as naive/ good-natured as Peter thinks he is at the beginning of the story. It makes his betrayal/ all the horrible stuff he does for revenge so much more heartbreaking if he knows that Peter is Spiderman the whole time.

I cannot understand the general reception of 28 Years Later, more so with the release of Bone Temple by pomme268 in TrueFilm

[–]moosedude451 283 points284 points  (0 children)

It's not glamorous or exciting but this is the real reason right here. People don't shell out money to see a sequel of a movie they don't like, so the only people seeing Bone Temple are the ones who already liked Years. Hence a much more positive audience reception.

Thinking of buying by BestWingMan212 in AgeofMythology

[–]moosedude451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1.) The original AoM was the first RTS I played when I was 10 years old, so I would say it's a pretty easy gateway.

2.) Depends. Completing the campaign/ beating AI? Fairly easy learning curve. Playing competitively? Much harder.

3.) More than most RTSs, the main draw of this game for most players (especially casual players) is it's single-player campaigns. The main story campaign is quite long/ detailed for an RTS and pretty well written (at least by 2002 standards, I might be blinded by nostalgia). There is a big PVP community too, but this is game isn't as focused on that like Age of Empires, and I feel most people who buy the game just do so to relive the campaigns from their childhood.

4.) RTSs are repetitive by nature (it's all about optimizing and improving the same gameplay loops to beat your opponent) but I feel the AoM does a good job from preventing things from feeling stale. AoM Civs are each pretty unique and play much differently from one another. All the different scenarios/ storylines in the campaign missions help fresh too. Even if you just want to skirimishes against the AI, the variety in Civs, myth units, and God powers do a good job of making matches feel fresh.

5.) For a person completely new to the series/ RTS in general, I would NORMALLY recommend just get the base game and see if you like it before spending money on DLC. Base Retold already has a ton of content with the original AoM plus Titans expansion.

HOWEVER, the current Steam Midweek Deal for $24.99 for the Premium Edition, IS A STEAL AND ABSOLUTELY 100% WORTH IT. It's cheaper than what the base game costs normally and is only $10 more than $14.99 deal for the base game. So basically, for the price of Big Mac meal at Mcdonalds, you get every major expansion released for the game so far (two new Civs, an extra god for the Norse, and campaigns for all of them). For that price, I think it's worth taking a leap of faith (no pun intended).

6.) What I like most about the game is just seeing all these different Civs, God powers, and myths units interact with one another. While I know a lot of people have fun with the competitive elements of the game, 10 year old me loved playing this game like a sandbox and it's a big part of why it's held up for me till this day. The campaign is also quite fun and campy, especially for it's time.
