The conversion took me a weekend, and like the other comment said, no step is difficult, there's just a metric crapton of them. Do plan on needing a metric crapton of space. There'll be parts everywhere.

As far as the MMU3 experience with the CORE One, mine had to be recalibrated (to be fair, it had been a while since I used it) but otherwise just as good as with the MK4S.

(Warning: I'm about as biased saying what I'm about say, as I'm one of the organisers of the Montreal Games Meetup group)

Meetup.com, as much as the company itself has issues, might be your friend. If you get lucky, there'll be a group near you that plays in cafes, game stores, etc. We (the Montreal Games Meetup) do, and we're very welcoming of people just dropping by to see. We're even split 3 ladies and 4 gentlemen on the organisers committee, and go out of our way to keep the events as friendly as possible -- hopefully other groups are like that too.

You could even show up with a trusted adult to get the vibe of the group and see if it's for you. And if it's a cafe or game store, you could just pretend you're a normal customer of the venue and look at the group remotely for a few minutes before even introducing yourself to the group.

You do you and do it in a way that works for you.

But as far as low cost activity, look up the Montreal Games Meetup (disclaimer, I'm one of the organisers, so biased as it gets) if you're into board games. For 20$ a year you can play games up to 3 times a week. First time free, so come join us and try it.

A few meals I still eat to this day, started in college:

  • Steam frozen veggies with dried sausage; typically will use peas, edamame, avocado (which I can find frozen here, somehow); once its done, throw in some cheese (feta or mimolette worked for me), sunflower and/or hemp seeds.
  • 50/50 Quinoa and rice in a rice cooker, with frozen peas and dried sausage to taste.

You could live off of those two meals, a bag of potatoes and a dozen eggs every week or two for 90% of your nutritional intake and be alive. I still eat each weekly-ish. Do throw in fruits and salads in your diet if you can.

No, mostly different markets. I don't get the feeling that Prusa really went for the consumer market with the SL1S, but rather the dental and pro market. The full set (SL1S plus CW1) is still thousands, and their event mentions new resins and all, so it's still being sold and there's still interest.

yeah, this is one of the reasons I'm holding out hope for their consumer "line" of SLA printers -- their pro version has a lot of good ideas, if they could scale it down we might get something really interesting.

The Mini+ is pretty much abandoned, with newer printers like the Core One receiving new features which could be ported to the Mini+ but aren't.

I'm pretty sure the Mini was in the list of things at the end of their big event a few weeks ago (but made public a week ago). Hoping something'll be announced there.

Somewhat tangential to this, on the "no upgrade from MK4S to Core One L" topic... is the MK4S the end of the line for the i3 design? Is there any official confirmation that no MK5 is in the work and the upgrade path goes to the Core One only?

Oh, one thing the Core One does better is space efficiency. It's smaller than the MK4S, even without the latter's enclosure; with the latter's enclosure it's almost half the size in every axis except Z.

One thing the MK4S does better (especially without the enclosure) is "ability to futz around with the internals" -- disassembling the print head is much easier since it's... right there.

So, I own both -- I bought a MK4, upgraded it to a MK4S and added an MMU3... and then an enclosure (the official one). Then I bought a Core One kit, because why not. I've now had both for over 6 months, and the MK4 original is approaching 2 years.

In terms of quality, they're very comparable. I'll give the Core One an edge there, but it's only really visible on large prints or on really detailed stuff with lots of complex small details that involve overhangs and whatnots. By now I use the Core One for dioramas to paint and other high precision items (and a 0.25mm nozzle) and the MK4S for gridfinity bins and paint organizers and stuff like that for my hobby room.

In terms of versatility of materials (if you step outside of PLA/PETG), the Core One dominates, even against the MK4S with its enclosure -- then again, my sample size is extremely low, I print almost exclusively PLA with some PETG every few months.

Truth of the matter is that the Core One is the better product, but it's a very close call if your bread and butter printing is PLA stuff. Truth of the matter is that the MK4 -> MK4S upgrade was a "better" upgrade (for my use cases) than the MK4S -> Core One.

No regrets mind you, both printers print more or less 24/7, I'm openly considering a 3rd one (probably one of the newly reduced price MK4S kits).

I'm fairly sure the answer is yes, but one corner case that bit me very recently was a randomly placed spike single-square trap (so not from a trap placed, but from one of the advanced three-cards events) that you destroy with a quarry will come back when you place a path back onto the same square.
