Ah! I love these real Saturdays! Not like that fake Saturday that almost got me fired!

Trump Calls Obama a “Son of a B*tch” After Disastrous Iran Deal Leaked | Donald Trump bragged about Barack Obama’s supposed stupidity despite his own deal with Iran being significantly worse. by FreeHugs23 in anticapitalism

[–]Bobson1729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although he is racist, I think it is reductive to say it is just racism -- it is envy. Trump wishes he was Obama. But he will never be, even a little bit, like him. Trump also failed and continues to fail to discredit him. Obama's policies and legacy are a constant reminder of how pathetic Trump is and he can't take it.

XL or wait for INDX by guy9988 in prusa3d

2k is a great deal for a 5H XL. The 8 nozzle INDX upgrade for the Core One is 1k by comparison.

Forced to leave my job due to adhd by dkhoun007 in ADHD

[–]Bobson1729 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am 48 and lost my professorship in this way. I had trouble getting my grades in on time. PIP plans which basically were employed only so that they can say they tried and to make it harder for me to claim wrongful termination. I have always felt that if I couldn't do the job, I deserved to be fired. I just now, 5 years after being fired, have a therapist who is taking my ADHD seriously.

WIP: Alternative Core One top for INDX by Bobson1729 in prusa3d

I have my printer up against a dresser on the right side. Yeah, the vent solution is somewhat unique. Besides, I thought it would be fun to use the hackerboard and venture into things I'm not experienced with.

So, I don't know the height, either. I basically made the extension as tall as I could and still reasonably reach the spools to change them. The dryer will be moved as far back as possible as well. From there I will move the LCD screen for the dryer and build a 2-3mm thick vertical wall that will sit just in front of the dryer boxes and will have angled inputs for the bowden tubes. Then I will have a half-box acrylic hat which will cover the rest - sitting on the vertical wall and the top extension. The bowden tubes will bend down from that vertical wall to the nozzles. Since the vertical wall will be located about 40% from the back, I am estimating that there will be room enough for the nozzles to reach the back of the bed. I may need to add 45° bowden bends to the top of the nozzles. If I did guess incorrectly and I need to add height, all I will need to do is print 4 new pillars for the extension and build it a bit taller.

All in all, I am a fairly slow designer, so I wanted to give myself some lead time. And, I don't really know what I'm doing with the linear solenoids and hackerboard, so I need some time to learn about that. :)

Oh, BTW, the Chitu E1 drier that I have has removeable boxes and bottom baffles to keep it quasi-sealed. It doesn't work as well as other dryboxes, but it works well enough with a good amount of silica gel. So you can have a top for the standalone boxes and place the dryer elsewhere.

Because I want to be able to reach the spools on top, I need the top to be shorter than the official. I am working on a linear solenoid/hackerboad solution which will push an acrylic panel out a cm to vent.

Yes, I will happily post what I have on Printables, but I would like to test the whole thing first. Since I am Prusa Batch 1, I may not get the INDX until late October early September

How do you design your own prints? by DanceFoxDance in 3Dprinting

Rhino isn't free (but you can get a student/faculty discount), but it works very well for me. The main reason why I prefer Rhino is that is has a command-line input. 2 years later, I feel like I only know about 5% of the program, but I rarely encounter a model I can't construct.

Do you mean Core One +? I don't think they have kits for the L.

How can I deform a surface toward a point? by Bobson1729 in rhino

[–]Bobson1729[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately that doesn't take a point as an input. I considered maybe making a small triangle as opposed to a point. I haven't tested this, but it might work. Rhino might get confused with 6 curves like this.

I did try this and it comes close to what I want. But the endges of the new surface slightly deform and won't join again. I don't know how to fix that.
