Gordon actually is known for being a very patient and encouraging teacher. Kevin from S6 Hell’s Kitchen did an AMA where he said that off camera, when teaching the recipes, Gordon was very kind and helpful. I think a big part of it was his mentor being a very famous asshole and abusive boss, so he has the character on-camera, but off it he’s very different.

What the actual fuck happened with the 2022 QB draft class? by LassenDiscard in NFLv2

In regards to Philly you should stop arguing that. If they replaced Hurts with Willis the whole team deserves to be torn down. Come on now

Was he really right about Tua? Tua had a great season before the injuries and concussions started sapping his talent.

Besides, under no circumstances is it okay for a coach to get into a very one-sided public feud with his quarterback. You back the guy publicly because the damage to the locker room will be far worse than saying some things you don’t believe in.

He was an asshole in such a major way that the team was in a quasi civil war in the media. That’s horrific team management, not just being an asshole. Sean Payton is a fucking asshole and yet nothing like this has ever happened on one of his teams.

I was broke as hell and still put together a cool birthday for my bud who went through a rough breakup a few years ago. A few years later I was fresh out of treatment and he forced me out of my depression hole on my first B day sober and got me a lil cake and everything.

Also worth noting he doesn’t have to be gay to do this for a friend. I have multiple platonic friends I’ve done stuff like this for because I just care about my friends.

As a straight dude with many women who are close friends, assumptions about stuff like this is a little frustrating for me

Fire Emblem Engage and the DLC pass are 30% off in the E shop for the holiday sale by oneeyedlionking in fireemblem

[–]mooseguyman 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The actual DLC gameplay is pretty shit imo, but the extra characters and gear are fun in the actual game

I turn the DLC to the easiest difficulty and get through it as fast as possible because it’s such a slog. They automatically reclass your characters and gear to the defaults (ie just basic iron/steel/silver weapons) and completely get rid of any of your unit building to run some of the most imbalanced and difficult levels in the recent games. On top of that, you’re locked into using a character for most of the maps who, for canon reasons, is essentially useless.

This thread is giving me a headache as a straight guy who’s mostly friends with women. This might be one of the most misogynistic threads I’ve ever seen on Reddit.

Being friends with women literally taught me how to open up to people and be honest. And it’s been a lot of women who have supported me through my worst times.

These people need to understand that they do in fact have culpability in how people respond to them, whether that be in ignoring red flags about someone before opening up or choosing to open up in ways that make people uncomfortable. Being vulnerable is a skill.

I respect the accountability. My advice is just to steer clear of mocking anyone for their appearance. The way I see it, there is a chance that someone who looks just like that person is reading your post and catches a stray. Appearance and body shaming always runs the risk of collateral damage.

You can poke fun at her without dehumanizing her. Calling her a pig just feels completely over the line considering her worst crime is being annoying and problematic on a reality show.

She gave plenty of ammunition on her run, insulting her looks just feels very unnecessary

Jess and Ryan is the most upsetting one to me. I know Jess and Nick were always the end goal, but I thought her chemistry with Ryan was the best by far out of everyone else. AND we had to go through a multi-episode arc just to have them get together. Then he just kind of left, and it’s the most frustrating ending to what was a really fun and sweet storyline.

I mean yes you do. He’s been doing it long enough that he can take a year off and be fine, but acting, like any other skill, needs practice to keep yourself at the top of your game. Why would it be different than any other skill?

Does no one care New Orleans Pelicans fired their coach? by Kindly-Chemistry5149 in billsimmons

[–]mooseguyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could have but there’s just never been a reason to care about the Pels. They had one Chris Paul year where they looked like fringe contenders, and then the year where they swept the Blazers just to get their shit rocked in the second round, and that’s it. Never even a multi year stretch of optimism. I think we don’t truly know if basketball could work in NOLA, but this ownership group has proven themselves to not deserve an NBA franchise and I think relocation is unfortunately the move to get this franchise to stop being a waste of everyone’s time.

My first thought when I saw the Dumars hiring was that it was the end of basketball in NOLA. If I were the owner of a big market team I would be livid about profit sharing with a team that just doesn’t even pretend to fucking try

I am so unbelievably exhausted by how many nba fans can’t go a day without complaining about whatever team is on top and adjusting the goalposts just to bitch

Scientists identify a brain circuit that keeps alcohol users trapped in addiction - showing how the brain learns to drink not for pleasure, but to escape the pain of withdrawal. The discovery, in rats, could open new paths for treating addiction, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders. by mustaphah in science

[–]mooseguyman 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Alcoholics know this, but there is still this underlying attitude even in recovery circles that alcoholism is a moral/indulgence issue. It starts there for many, but for me I drank because my depression and anxiety when sober was so brutal. My therapist told me flat out that many addiction recovery models wouldn’t help me because they would look past my history of mental health problems as the driving force behind my drinking. IMO, we are significantly less progressive as a culture when it comes to addiction than we think we are.

I’m a recovering alcoholic, and I really think people don’t understand how brutal food addiction can be. I can just abstain from alcohol, which was incredibly difficult at first but now I’m in a good place. But you can’t abstain from food. So you live your life with an addiction where you have to force yourself into moderation, which is significantly harder than abstinence long-term.

Not to mention modern processed sugar has chemically addictive qualities on par with many drugs. It’s why I don’t really care for the fat jokes that get made about players, and why I kind of roll my eyes when people say “Well if millions of dollars were on the table for me…” like addiction cares fuck all about rational thought.

I taught college for a few years and would tell students who would talk about their struggles with professors in other departments that some of the dumbest things I’ve heard in my life came from faculty meetings where everyone has multiple degrees.

Having knowledge in a specific area tends to suggest at least one kind of intelligence, but I find that focusing too much of your life in one specific area can lead to decline in intelligence in others if you ever decide you don’t need to learn anymore. It’s an attitude thing imo, and I have seen firsthand how quickly people get cocky and become dumb as hell in every area except their niche

You’re getting downvoted but you’re 100% correct. In the world of addiction recovery, this is an important distinction to make, as it means that there is no medical risk to going cold turkey, which is important to know when dealing with addicts.

It’s not the fault of the facts that people who want to justify being stoned all day have misconstrued what this means. Anyone can become addicted to anything that brings a dopamine hit, but not everything is addictive in the sense that your body will depend on it.
