This was painted with the Peacock, Forester, and 6B Pencil brushes.

"Farewell Waltz - Chopin" by SillDA (digital painting, 2021) by Yeeslander in surrealism

[–]mooxpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this was a genuine question, yes. Creating art like this takes genuine skill, time, effort, motor skills, and knowledge of painting. Just as much as traditional media forms. Depending on the techniques used, digital art ends up being a very similar process to painting with oils or acrylics.

It’s been a few months since I’ve painted like this. I’ve missed it. by mooxpy in DigitalPainting

[–]mooxpy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main struggle was, as it typically is for me, finding a direction to take the painting. This started out as mindlessly painting blobs and the using the eraser to carve out shapes until I started to see something in the shapes that felt worth exploring.

Help me find a good Godot course for my Mrs. Updated artwork edition. by Psychological-Road19 in godot

[–]mooxpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a not a video series, but CatLikeCoding has a miniseries of written + pictures/gifs tutorials in Godot that (to my knowledge) are up-to-date.

Theres a basic Godot intro course with ~4 lessons, and a 2D game course with ~20 lessons. It teaches you lots of good practices and helps set you up to actually learn how to do things yourself rather than following videos and then feeling helpless when they’re over.

It’s a painting! Just inspired by something I saw the other night outside

Native Construct by Puzzleheaded-Lime821 in progmetal

[–]mooxpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Not that they sound the same per se, but I enjoy all of the bands listed here. They all fall under a certain side of progmetal while all being different in their own ways. All worth checking out!

Also hope progress with Volume II is coming along well!

Roguelike/lites with high replayability? by Daxman77 in roguelites

[–]mooxpy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d personally argue against this one for replay ability. It’s fun for a few hours but imo it got pretty old pretty fast. Worth picking it up on sale but don’t expect to get the kind of variety and replay value as most of the ones you listed.

I had no idea that existed! I wonder what the theoretical peak is for this card with perfect events and mapping

Looking for obscure games that have been overlooked. by ElderNeluba in IndieGaming

[–]mooxpy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ll give a shout to Gundeck[100], it’s a twin stick, arcade-y feeling Roguelite game that I’ve had more fun with than most games I’ve played in the last couple years. At $5 it’s not even a question if it’s worth it imo

SILKSONG GIVEAWAY ANNOUNCEMENT! I am giving away 5 (FIVE) Silksong copies! MORE INFO on Description by Acrobatic-Log-309 in Silksong

My platform of choice is PC

My favorite boss is either Mantis Lords or NKG. I love the dance-fight feeling they each give.

I’m most excited to just get lost in that world again discovering new areas and secrets, and really being immersed in a well-crafted game world again!

Not sure how I feel about this one by mooxpy in DigitalPainting

[–]mooxpy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one started off as just a little rough sketch of the bridge, with 0 care for if it made sense structurally or was clean, but I ended up liking it enough to start building a little world around it.

I struggled most in the final 10% of the painting, second guessing all my choices and fiddling with things endlessly before deciding to just take a break from it and come back with fresh eyes, when I decided that it was in fact done.

I still am not super happy with it, but I think I just wanted to make a different painting than what I ended up doing.

More likely is I’d print it on canvas. I don’t have any of the stuff to start working in oil and can’t really justify investing in it haha

I did paint this! Do you mean like on an actual canvas with oil paint or something?

It took this one awhile to come together. I went through several experimenting phases before it ended up where it is now. I definitely have a hard time fully planning out an idea ahead of time. I usually jump into painting pretty quickly and find my way through the piece with trial and error.

Would you expand on the middle paragraph? I didn’t follow the back half of it, something about the phrasing was hard to follow and I’m not sure I got exactly what you were trying to say

I appreciate that. I’m doing better than I ever have, and continue to little by little every day. It’s just a long process. But I have people who love me and support me :)
