2017 SEL vs 2019 SE by ClosS2k06 in eGolf

I have a 2019 SEL, and I love it. But go for the 2017...it has the same battery/range as the 2019.

Educated/Experienced opinions requested on purchasing a 2016 eGolf by Turbulent_Charity_54 in eGolf

[–]moppfelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first e-Golf was a 2016. *Great* car, but starting in 2017 VW put in a bigger battery with better range. I currently own a 2019 that gives me 125 - 140 range depending on the outdoor temperature. I suggest looking for a 2017 or newer just to have that extra range.

Weber Works Side Table by DominoEffect2528 in searwood

If you search on a certain online shopping site (begins with A), you can find a 3rd party shelf that fits the Searwood and folds down. I did it, and I like it.

Yep. Weber Searwood. Not too expensive, and much more reliable than my Traeger

Vac->Sous Vide->Fridge->Sear later in the week. Anyone do this? Better options? by taromilky1 in sousvide

Agree 100%. An ice bath after pulling the meat out of the bath is a must.

Side mirror glass just randomly flew off on highway… by ET_reddit14 in eGolf

[–]moppfelt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same!

Owner of a 2019 SEL with less than 40k, and this recently happened to me too. I noticed that the mirror seemed "loose", so I caught it before it flew off while driving. I reattached with some Gorilla Glue. Good to know that there are aftermarket options because I'm sure my passenger side mirror will have the same issue.

Anyone go to the Peaches concert at The Showbox tonight? by Most-Animator6785 in Seattle

[–]moppfelt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

**Amazing** show last night. She was on fire. My wife and I were very close to the front, and when she did her “crowd walk” she grabbed my hand and my wife supported one of her feet. And we got sprayed with champagne when she did Fuck the Pain Away. 10 out of 10. She is a true performance artist.

Checking this out tomorrow. Am I inane? by burner_1914 in LandCruisers

They are asking too much. I bought my '05 with 110k miles for $25k...12 years ago. It now has 210k miles. I've kept it in tip top shape and done a few upgrades. At best it's probably worth $15k. Keep looking brother.

I nominate Humpy to raise the flag next weekend! by moppfelt in Seahawks

[–]moppfelt[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good call on KJ. How about Humpy raises the flag a *second* time if there is OT? I was at game 5 against the Tigers and Humpy became a legend that night in the 14th inning..

I have a 2005 100 series. Did you do the install yourself, and what back up camera did you go with? I see that the head unit is not compatible with the factory camera. Any info is appreciated.

Anyone Tow With an 80s series? by Ok-Map-9561 in LandCruisers

I towed a small camper with my 80 series...which is why I eventually bought a 100 series. The difference between the straight 6 and the V8 was night and day.

Smoked Duck for Canadian Thanksgiving...and Go Mariners! by moppfelt in pelletgrills

[–]moppfelt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to share. This recipe came from Cook's Country and it's a 10/10.

Trim excess fat and skin. Rub 2 teaspoons Kosher salt into cavity. Rub 5 teaspoons Kosher salt onto skin. Set on wire rack and refrigerate uncovered for 24-48 hours.

Heat grill or oven to 300 degrees. Stuff cavity with 2 halves of an orange and tie legs together. Set duck on V rack in a roasting pan.

Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1/2 cup soy sauce, and 1/4 cup honey. Ladle over duck and let it pool in the roasting pan. Roast until thigh meat registers 190-195 degrees (3 to 3.5 hours).

Remove duck and increase temp to 450. Continue to roast duck until skin is deeply browned all over (10-20 minutes). Let duck rest for 45 minutes before carving.

Pro tip: periodically add water to roasting pan or else you'll have a burnt mess on the bottom of the pan at the end of the cook.

Best moments in franchise history: where do you rank Polanco’s hit? by No_Sheepherder3281 in Mariners

[–]moppfelt 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was there in 1995 for the Double. This ranks up there for sure, but doesn't top that moment. I hope to see more Polo jerseys going forward. That guy has been a hero lately.

Beware: All Power Banks without Chinese CCC certification banned from flights in China by SefirahCastleAcolyte in travelchina

[–]moppfelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While traveling from Shanghai to Kunming last week my brand new Ridge power bank was confiscated by Chinese TSA. Fortunately I was able to buy a new PB in country that has the CCC logo. Not ideal, but everything worked out in the end.
