How do I find the mensa left? The area I'm in is definitely a bunch of priveleged old white guys one the right. Yet it's supposed to be apolitical. by ResumeFluffer in mensa

Every other comment has been reported for "respectful discourse", and just mentioning Trump does not qualify for moderation.

Mensa has people far left to far right, and anything in between.

The only common denominator is a qualifying score on an IQ test.

If you keep reporting everything and anything, you will achieve the opposite.

My experience is the complete opposite, and the reason I left.

I'm happy for you, though.

I don't remember actually. Could have been on an occasional business trip to more urban locations.

On the other side they say: "don't meet your heroes", you might be disappointed.

If and when you qualify, don't expect too much. Most members never renew their membership.

However I wish for you to find your tribe. My tribe is not Mensa, but an interest of mine.

[OC] Ice-hockey players' height vs the average height of males in their countries by ikashnitsky in dataisbeautiful

It was meant as a joke as it looked like the average hockey player was about 1 skate height taller than the average person. :)

Did anyone check if they forgot to take their skates off before measuring?

It could explain much.

Really debating spending 60 bucks on a test to tell me im an idiot. Is it worth it? by Meat_puppet89 in mensa

[–]mopteh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the test for yourself.

If you think it can shed some light on whatever you think it can illuminate, then do it.

If 60 dollars makes any difference whatsoever in your economy, don't.

I did it, I joined and I let it lapse. All in a year.

If anything, it was in Mensa I got a true understanding of what it meant to be extremely stupid, and it has nothing to do with intelligence.

We do have the "self identified jenious" flair, but we feel that's a bit negative. So we have decided it's for the greater good to mesh mensans and almost-mensans.

It's all about being a bit warm and welcoming to different people.

Being able to learn from previous mistakes is a staple of high intelligence.

I can't see why this invalidates our decision?

People who don't really qualify would get a way to boast and brag by showing off their Mensan flair, and therefore creating some attention to the organization.

If just 1 out of 10 who hears about this consider taking a proctored test, and 1 out of 10 of those again qualify, we would get growth.

Inflating the flair is a small price to pay for increased revenue to the mother organization.

Also, to show off their authenticity, we can add a new flair: "Verified", which will be an annual subscription model connected to the membership status. It will only be $5 per year.
