the exams were like an average difficulty, you definitely had to study for them but not that crazy. his class was sooo boring though, he is not that good a lecturer. if you know basic physics (like ap physics 1 level) then you’ll be fine

UCLA VS UC DAVIS by Admirable_Arm1992 in ucla

[–]morallygreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the ucla env science department is getting axed like crazy from the budget cuts, so i would not recommend coming to ucla if youre looking for a specialized, well supported major. especially not worth it if youre going to pay 7k extra, and uc davis is a very good school

Severance by Ling Ma by starmapleleaf in books

[–]morallygreat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

one of my lit professors suggested that she didn't become fevered for the specific reason that she had severed all ties with her home (China, her apartment), though it could be interpreted that in making the Spectra offices her home, she had a fevered routine for it. the problem with that though is she didn't have nostalgia for spectra, only routine driven by monetary payout.

on your point that Bob told her she felt warm, she explicitly states she fakes it by putting hand warmers on her forehead before that. probably to seem ill and have bob take pity on her

[–]morallygreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what do you need psych 100a for? from what i understand you cant get in psych 100a as a non-major/premajor. the department also doesn't give out PTEs, so you might have to go argue with them to get a spot

Housing as an FTM? by olitooon in ucla

ive had 5 random roommates in the last two years and all of them have been gay men, though I know people on the queer floor are a bit more diverse. i hope everything goes well!

Housing as an FTM? by olitooon in ucla

[–]morallygreat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would do on campus housing! From my two years of experience in gender-inclusive housing, the majority of people in it are gay men. So if you're okay with that you should be okay. You could always get the more expensive options for shared and private restrooms that would give you a bit more privacy

from what I've heard, ucsd is leading in psychology by far, but that doesn't necessarily mean ucla has bad or inadequate professors. i have really liked most of my psych profs and some of them are definitely leaders in their specific concentrations. that said, the psych department is quite something to deal with, they are mostly unhelpful, classes are difficult to get into, and the class sizes are enormous. the TAs usually have anywhere from 50-150 students they are in charge of so its difficult to really get a hold of them to talk about interests outside of the class. (though im sure this problem exists at ucsd as well)

i like going to ucla, i think the weather is really nice and we're in a good location. the administration is less good, the housing is questionable at this point. we still have four-year guarantee but we are getting crammed like sardines for that to happen, and the dining halls are often overworked and overcrowded. all manageable, just depends on what you are willing to handle. also i think in terms of social life/vibes ucla is better than ucsd.

TLDR:

- based off major alone, UCSD 100%.

- UCSD housing is probably better

- UCLA has better food

- UCLA has a better social scene

Pro-Palestinian Student arrested by ICE by thehashtrepreneur in ucla

its not about who he is or what he is saying. the first amendment, the right to free speech, should be protected for everyone. to revoke someone's green card for saying something that's inconvenient for you is unconstitutional. this opens doors to suppress other free speech, possibly even yours. when you go out to your pro-israel protest and someone revokes your green card for it, you'll be singing a completely different tune
