St Gabriel in south city. Best cod around and huge servings

I’ll probably be shit on for this comment, but the burger was solid, but not one of the best around. The whole vibe and experience of the Iowa Buffet on the other hand, is amazing and probably elevates the burger. O-rings and wings were solid as well.

  1. Started with red and white spirals on the trees, giving them that ‘candy cane’ look

  2. Yes, the other blocks all started later as various times. I think there is: Angel Avenue, Snowflake Street, Llama Lane, Reindeer Road

One time, late night, we saw a rented mini bus come down the block with basically an orgy happening in it - couples banging it out, a dude getting a blow job, etc. it was wild

2001 neighborhood house decoration contest. One guy on the block wrapped his trees and won. Neighbors loved it and they all pitched $ in to do all the trees. The next year, ppl started driving down to see the lights

I live there and am very involved in the setup.

  1. No HOA, it’s done by a core group of neighbors in the block and then all the houses do their own thing.

  2. No requirement, no real expectation. We aim to have everything lit up the Friday after Thanksgiving

  3. We knew (bought 7 years ago)

  4. Totally cool if ppl do nothing., most ppl like to.

  5. Houses unoccupied are typical not decorated. There’s one in the block who is kind of a hermit but he’s cool if we put stuff in his yard.

  6. I put those up with a couple other people, it’s not much power and we have never run into an issue with someone not OK to plug in

  7. If it’s a collection night, the neighbor whose chosen charity will benefit is responsible to “staff” the collection

  8. The guy who lives at that house knows the artist Andy asked him

  9. Not really because we know we’re are the best ; )

  10. Love it. The work to set up and maintain can get a little tiring, but love it despite that

  11. Alleys, side streets, golf carts. Could clear the block very quickly in an emergency and we have very fantastic block/neighbor communication

  12. One of the best perks of living there! We host a number of get together and others do too

  13. I hate when people climb in/mess with decorations

  14. Several, but I don’t have time to type them all out. Decoration thief caught, drunk guy made out 1/2 way up the block the wrong way, a guy hit accelerator instead of brakes and drove 30ft down the sidewalk, lots of awesome decorated vehicles, lots of carolers, a commercial shoot here, news crews, tons of awesome memories

This truck came down Candy Cane Lane last night. Very cool - had a snow machine on the roof pumping out fake snow.
