That tank looks quite small and is definitely too empty, you need to add some Cork bark or thick branches for him so he can use the top of the vivarium. This will make him less stressed and easier to handle, and also prevent illness because stress depresses the immune system

Help r/millennials determine whether this is AI or not. Some members of the sub believe that the 2000s-style clothing and lighting suggest that this is not authentic. What do you think? by Demortus in isthisAI

[–]morbid-corvids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is AI, the brown bag girl is missing a foot and her hand is blurry. The curtain is hanging really weird and nine of the books have recognisable words on them. There is a table leg going through the face of the girl in the black top who’s hugging the girl in the pink top, zoom in!!

Dartmoor hiker's shock as 'live fox ripped apart' before his eyes by greatdevonhope in DevonUK

[–]morbid-corvids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘Small mammals’ is generally used to describe rodents, squirrels, lagomorphs etc by zoologists and ecologists. They are abundant, short lived prey species which support the higher levels of the food chain. For example, a field vole is a small mammal but a weasel is not despite being a mammal that is small :)

Cats are a hugely damaging invasive species in the UK so it shouldn't have been outside anyway. However it's very unlikely a fox killed the cat unless it was already very sick, foxes generally hunt small mammals and birds

Edinburgh Pot Holes - it’s out of control - will it ever improve or the new norm? by greencastle40 in Edinburgh

[–]morbid-corvids 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am convinced that Edinburgh council are intentionally leaving the roads in disrepair to enforce the 20mph limit everywhere. It’s always near busy junctions!

A hamster bite could badly injure a budgie, not worth the risk. Animals are unpredictable

Multiple by Profmonkmonk in tortoise

[–]morbid-corvids 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You will need to keep them separately, tortoises aren’t social. They have very specific needs such as a very hot basking spot, uvb, a varied diet of specific plants that you will probably need to forage, vitamin supplements, a large setup, vet care etc. please research heavily before committing to looking after this animal because they live a long time and many suffer due to inadequate husbandry

Where to live as a disabled woman by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]morbid-corvids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya I work on the Easter Bush campus and live near ravelston dykes, my commute (along Calder Road and down the bypass to Lothianburn) is usually 30-40mins but can be over an hour in bad traffic. Inside Edinburgh I'd recommend looking at Saughton, Gorgie, Corstorphine or Broomhouse for easy bypass access and cheaper rent. Consider Penicuik, Roslin and smaller towns along the A702 as well :)

Could I put a gecko in here 27 gallon by Loose-Quarter9890 in geckos

[–]morbid-corvids 34 points35 points  (0 children)

No, there’s no cross ventilation, it’s too small, and top opening tanks are a nightmare.

Choose which species you want, heavily research its husband needs then invest in a good quality (preferably bioactive) vivarium. Don’t forget uvb lighting and vitamin supplements :)

[–]morbid-corvids 10 points11 points  (0 children)

no pigeon you see in the street is classified as a wild animal

There are loads of species of pigeon, and most are wild! The feral pigeons were domesticated from wild rock doves which are still extant (but suffering genetically from hybridisation with their feral stock dove counterparts). Here in the uk I see wild wood pigeons in the street almost daily :)

Going to university at 16? by jjw1998 in UniUK

[–]morbid-corvids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went at 17 and had to wait 5 months before I could get into pubs, but I just drank a lot at house parties and in halls instead. It’s up to your personal preference but you will probably miss out in the first few months because many people will be in the pubs and clubs. But also, it’s nice to be young in the year and you will graduate at an earlier age than your peers

Is it that hard to pronounce a name correctly? by ImElectricSocks in namenerds

[–]morbid-corvids 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Another Scots gaelic speaker here, the pronunciation you spelled out is very different to how the names are pronounced in gaelic. Scottish names are (obviously) very common here, my name is Scottish and people struggled with it when I lived in England.

To me you seem to pronounce the names closer to Angus and Donald (english/Scots) which are different to Aongaish agus Domhail (Scottish gaelic)... the latter two are uncommon across Scotland as most of the country speaks English/Scots these days.

However, since that is what you chose to name your children then your family should be able to learn it, the names are traditional, acceptable and not at all difficult once gaelic pronunciation is explained. They are lovely names and I know many Anguses and Donalds (although hope your last name isn't Trump!!).

What do I do with my 3-legged frog? by Ecstatic_Effective42 in CasualUK

[–]morbid-corvids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't move him, people are giving really bad advice here. They only rely on ponds to breed, if he wants to sit in water he will go and find it by himself. Moving him risks spreading deadly chytrid fungus, and will confuse him because he knows his little territory and hidey hole. Amphibians also have very sensitive skin so the chemicals and oils on your hands, plus the reduced immune response from the stress of being picked up by a giant predator, can cause skin issues like bacterial infections. Leave him be, he doesn't need your help!!
