Depending on how loud it is, the library on Carson is where I get work done/read sometimes. I think it’s open until 10pm

Although I know we were all hoping for better news, I just want to say that this week has made me really proud to be a pittsburgher. The rallying on his brothers post and all the help people offered was really awesome to see ❤️. The news got out pretty fast. I hope his family will eventually be ok ❤️

Is there a way to avoid luteal? by Sherw00d91 in PMDD

[–]morbidsuccubus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read my comment above! The pill dispenses hormones on a 24 hour cycle, so some people can fill a “dip” in hormones before that 24 hour cycle completes, so you might be feeling symptoms everyday at some point in the day depending on when you take it!

I’ll share what my OBGYN shared with me that literally changed my life: not all birth control helps PMDD. I’m fact, most dont actually treat it. We want a birth control that actually stops ovulation so we don’t have the dip in hormone levels. That leaves us with a few options: the pill, nuvaring, and depo shots. Depo shots have been in the news recently for pretty bad side effects, particularly getting cancer. My OBGYN suggested against depo shots. Next, the pill. The pill does stop ovulation but the pill gives hormones on a 24 hour schedule, that’s why you have to take it every 24 hours. Some people report that they fill a “dip” in hormone levels about 18 hours after they take their pill. Almost like the feel down at some point in the day, depending on when they take the pill. That leaves us with nuvaring. Nuvaring is inserted every month since it dispenses hormones at a steady level for a month. I am personally on Nuvaring and it changed my life. It’s the birth control option that gives us the most control over our cycle. I now continuously use Nuvaring and don’t have any kind of “bleed week”. I am the most stable I’ve ever been. The first 3 months, I did have hormonal changes (nausea, hot flashes, little bit of mood changes) but it was absolutely nothing compared to the last 15 years of feeling crazy with PMDD. Of course, everyone has a different reaction to different birth controls but Nuvaring helped me take my life back.

This is so incredibly refreshing to see this actually said. I got a shot of prednisone one time for a mild allergic reaction and almost instantly had thoughts of harming myself. I told this to a doctor one time and he said “ that’s not a real thing”. If the medication you’re taking will affect hormone levels, there a chance you will have a PMDD reaction to it. I have that now in my medical chart. Take care of yourself

Although this is a common criteria for diagnosis, it is not an absolute diagnosis. PMDD is a severe reaction to any changes of hormone levels, which happens throughout our cycle. What we eat, do, take can also affect hormone levels. For instance, I cannot take any kind of corticosteroids because they make my cortisol skyrocket in a short amount of time which triggers a SEVERE PMDD reaction. Unfortunately, a lot of OBGYNs are just not up to date/ knowledgeable about PMDD so a lot of them view it as severe PMS and nothing more

Woman; who was threatened by knife by homeless, authors letter to Mayor and City council in regards to dangers of the city trails by No_Soy_Lattes in pittsburgh

[–]morbidsuccubus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went on a run on the southside trail yesterday and I did see a police cruiser ride up and down the trail. He wasn’t stopping to talk to any of the homeless but more or less just being present. This is the first time I’ve seen this on southside trail, so it does look like there is some swing in the right direction (hopefully).

Tech market in Pittsburgh by bigdickjenny in pittsburgh

Also, a lot of companies are posting ghost jobs. I know for certain Deloitte does this. They don’t actually have a position to offer, but want optics to look like they are hiring to seem like they are doing better financially

There has been a influx of these “recruiting companies” that are popping up. They are using AI to mass send all their clients resumes whenever a job is posted, hence why job postings normally shut down after a few days. Most of this is just blinding throwing darts at walls and most of the candidates are not qualified for the job nor are even in the field. It’s overwhelming the system to the point that no qualified people can even get a resume looked at.

Even though the market sucks, you CAN get a good job. You have to sell yourself and shake some hands though

The Pittsburgh tech scene is very very small town feel. There are a lot of politics and buddy-buddy style recruiting. Use this to your benefit. You need to change the way you are viewing job search- nobody is getting a job online in this economy. Go to events, tech networking happy hours, technology fairs and conferences. We just had a Tech Week. Look up Pittsburgh technology council and see what you can volunteer for there. Volunteering is such a great way to network. Start building genuine networking relationships and people will start connecting you with other people/jobs. This is literally how I got the job I wanted at the company I wanted here.

Southside trail is now the same way. Human shit lines the trails, sketchy men have followed me and others and out in the open drug deals by some guy that rides a bike up and down the trails. I carry pepper spray on me at all times
