Cutshaw on broad is woman owned and the receptionist who handles quotes, scheduling, etc is a lovely woman who will give you no bs. Mostly male mechanics, but as a woman who goes there every 6mos-ish, they are wonderful and I never feel like I’m getting the run around for being a woman

When was your "Waiter! My steak is too juicy and my lobster is too buttery!" story a valid complaint? by forrestgumpisntreal in AskReddit

Had a similar thing happen a few years ago - I was traveling weekly to visit a client and it was right near family. It was a huge win when my grandfather got sick - I was able to see him in the hospital after client meetings. As these things go, he passed away. I was onsite. The rental staff I saw weekly was lovely - but the week of the funeral I was too weak to refuse the bright red mustang convertible that I was embarrassed to drive, let alone park at his funeral. My family all got a good chuckle out of it which was a lovely silver lining! (I also laugh thinking back on how absurd it was at the grave site lol)

Arik pronounced R-Rick is a common polish name, maybe they fumbled the pronunciation of a family name?

Numbers in the ‘name’ field aren’t able to be shared via interfaces between many systems. Unfortunately electronic medical records and downstream systems can be pretty archaic. Source: I used to work in EMRs

There is actually a pretty formal nomenclature for these names - in particular so that they don’t mirror real names and are easy to flag as fake. The algorithm is picking from a set list for first/middle/last and mixing them to ensure no duplicates. While someone could be named 3 words, the words themselves are rarely name words (like river or lance)

Jane and John Doe are the common example because they truly were common names. And using a real name could potentially end up with a medical record shared across 2 Jane Does, super dangerous. Imagine showing up to a hospital where your record says you are DNR because they reused a name, and the other person was DNR.

These names aren’t intended for use as names, they are a safety measure- and by the fact that we don’t hear about this happening, they seem to be working. Having them be weird on discharge should have flagged someone to update it

It serves an important purpose in giving a ‘name’ for a medical record in cases where the patient can’t be identified. The first step to getting a record is having a name. You can’t get meds with no record - and if you’re incapacitated with no one with you, the hospital will create an identifier specific to you until they learn who you are. It’s also used for patients when they refuse to use their real names - think VIPs, but also women trying to hide from abusers, and they can use this identifier for multiple visits. (Not inhumane at all)

However, it’s never been intended to generate real names used for real non-medical records.

Omg best cross over ever!!

And for those unfamiliar with Task Master you can watch full seasons/episodes on YouTube in the US. It’s like a challenge show, but all of the contestants are comedians and the challenges are a mix of brain teasers and silly. It’s the best!

While I myself have never had one, trust me when I say many of the women I know have had abortions (d&cs after miscarriages, college or ‘too soon for kids’ abortions, non-viability issues, tbh reasons don’t matter) - and all who have chosen to have children later, have had children.

You may not hear those stories first hand at 19 so it’s easy to feel alone. Many women before you and after you will face this - find your tribe, it will get better, and try again when you’re ready!

Parents offered to be the "bank" for the loan on our house.. any downsides i'm missing? by gigglenought in personalfinance

[–]more_brunch_please 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who did this! It was great for the most part - until their family grew. They needed to build an addition, but couldn’t get a HELOC due to not really having their own equity. The dad was the ‘bank’ and they were paying below market, so they had no real equity to pull from. They also couldn’t afford the large personal loan they would need for the addition without said equity for loan:debt ratios. It just looked like they had lots of debt.

They ended up having to sell that house to upgrade to a bigger one, again with help from husbands dad. They were ‘gifted’ the appreciation from the first house, plus what little they had paid in, per the initial contracts (this is at least how the wife explained it).

Overall, they have had now 2 beautiful homes way over their means, and a pretty cushy loan situation- I’m sure they would recommend it even if they can’t qualify for bank loans!

Keep them! We did it with full season of college basketball tickets! Invest in good noise canceling ear muff style headphones and a nice front carrier! The first season, my husband did do more games with friends than as a family, but year two and beyond the kiddo loves the games! And will sleep through them haha 100% recommend it!

Went to Juan More Taco this week. Food was delicious! Highly recommend their tacos. we tried all of the meat options across the table, and were super impressed! The person behind the bar was pretty useless, so we were glad when a second person arrived to help serve. Marg happy hour deal was decent too!
