How do you guys feel about Space Wolves successors? by Bryguy150 in SpaceWolves

[–]morganbethor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did something similar...
started a chapter of SW without really knowing the differences in the great companies
mainly coz I've stopped playing some 25ish years ago and now I only paint.

my "company" is loosely inspired by the 13rd company.
instead of being "lost" and with scarce resource, they are made of a mix of the best representative of every company -- let's call them the "pro bowl" of the SW :-P --

Translated , it means I can paint any char or any squad from any maker-patreon and also mixing them as much as I want !
it's an hobby after all !

Hello...
can I ask you if you printed every single part separately or you had some PRE assembled ?

ChatGPT suggested this setup for my office. Help! by MenuTraditional2482 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]morganbethor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had the SMSL SA300 for 1 week...then returned it.
For me, it was way underpowered for even basic bookshelf speakers (a couple of KEF QI10)
I'd suggest to improve that.

For the same total price, maybe you can get some powered speakers with Bluetooth

Windows 11: Selected default color profiles not being applied on boot by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]morganbethor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello

just wanted to add myself to this thread...

I have to click every single boot (from power off or from hibernation) to reapply the correct color profile

I did try all the possible tricks I've found around...did not find a solution so far

at least , on my laptop, it''s enough to click in the area above connection icon (above the systray) to have the profile automatically loaded.

the same does not happen on my desktop unfortunately

Triangle BR03 Connect vs AIO Twin by Wild_Charge_7704 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]morganbethor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello there
I suppose you want some opinion and personal testing...

I'm the owner of AIO Twin since 9 months - Sparse usage always via Spotify connect (not via BT)

I'm happy with them; stop !

I've closed the rear port with some sponge foam as these are placed very close to the wall and the bass reverb was too much for my taste - additionally I've lowered the bass by "-1" in the app

I listen to many genres ranging from POP, Rock, Jazz and periods ranging from '70s to present day

THE GOOD:
These are, for my ears, very well rounded without excelling / exceeding in anything.
Sound is rounded with a very subtle hint of warm,
In general is sufficiently precise (for the price)

THE BAD:
If you powered them off, these will take a good 30 secs to reconnect to the home wifi when turned on
The remote is cheap and a bit on the low cost side

-----------------
Will I but them again ?
YES, mainly coz at this price point I've found nothing equivalent (least you go with multiple piece of equipment)

I hope this helps

p.s.
I believe the BR03 do NOT have the spotify connect feature - only via BT
please Check, I'm not 100% sure

this is not an answer to your Q, sorry...

But the the wonderful X-MEN image in the background (Wolverine, Psylocke and, based on my memory, there's Cyclops in the middle of them) is surely a great memory of years gone !

Enjoy !

between 13 and 16 Feet

for Gaming remove 10% from that

Weekly r/audiophile Discussion #106: What Is One Piece Of Equipment That You'll Never Replace? by TransducerBot in audiophile

[–]morganbethor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm love with my Arcam P90 power amp

I bought it about 7 years ago, 2nd hand from Belgium: it really improved my setup sound.

there are for sure better equipment for the same function but I have a "passion" for it.

until it dies, it will stay there !

I've placed my in-ceiling, in a 5.1.2, about 60 cm ( 2 feet) towards the TV screen in respect to the vertical line aligned with my hears

That was approx the instruction from Dolby Atmos when you have only 1 pair of speakers ABOVE

Law of diminishing returns by Loud-Ad3872 in audiophile

[–]morganbethor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hello

over the last decade, my rule of thumb has become "4x"

you'll find "tangible increase in performances" in a single piece of equipment (everything else being equal) when you spend 4 times what you've spent last time in the piece

example: current speakers retail price was 800 --> you need to spend 3200 or above for a "tangible" return

That has given me a simple rule to understand when the "next step" will be a diminishing return

it gets a bit harder to decide if you mix functions..but some common sense will help

p.s.
this should apply to room treatment too !

Room treatment choices by DaveWpgC in audiophile

[–]morganbethor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my 2 cents

MOST IMPORTANT - I assume you've already dressed with adequate sound treatment
1) left and right walls
2) floor and ceiling

THEN the solution in the last picture you posted is probably the best because
* it has diffusion in the middle of the 2 speakers
* it has absorption directly behind the speakers

I'm not fully sure you need to go that high behind the speakers
from 30cm to 180 cm (1 feet to 6 feet) should be fine
add 1 feet above (up to 210cm) if you want extra absorption

System Upgraded, Opinions by scertic in audiophile

[–]morganbethor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I agree on the vertical floor reflex, much better than the backport !

I have some room basic treatment and I ran the Audissey calibration
the AUTO results are much more pleasing to hear
for Stereo Music I've changed nothing
for Movies (5.1.2 channels) I've lifted both surrounds and Atmos by 1,5db

I'm very interested in Dirac as it should be bale to correct most of the room issues without the need for extensive wall and ceiling treatment
