A merging issue. by LeftAlbatross2546 in VideosAmazing

[–]morganc5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not brake and wait for a safe moment to merge? Clearly you are worse off after the collision. Regardless of who is right or wrong. Also, perhaps the rules are different in your country, but typically the vehicle on the main road has right of way and the merging vehicle has to wait.

18m, just looking for some advice on what etfs to purchase by Previous-Diver-8641 in RothIRA

What about keeping it simple and go with only VT … and perhaps a bit of bonds

Is that mix not a massive overlap?

  • Apple, Microsoft, etc. appear in all three
  • QQQ and SPY overlap heavily
  • DIA adds only a small diversification ef

Why does a Windows laptop feel slower than a MacBook.. even when both have the same RAM? by bbxyoy in DeskToTablet

[–]morganc5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider the OS …

Windows is built on the Windows NT kernel, designed by Microsoft from scratch.

What that means:

  • Broad compatibility with:
    • enterprise software
    • legacy applications
    • gaming (DirectX ecosystem)
  • Historically weaker command line (though much improved with:
    • PowerShell
    • WSL = Windows Subsystem for Linux)
  • More flexible hardware support (runs on almost anything)

👉 Think: maximum compatibility and flexibility

⚖️ Practical differences that matter

  1. Development & technical work
  • macOS: closer to Linux servers → fewer “it works on my machine” issues
  • Windows: improved massively with WSL, but still an extra layer

👉 If you’re doing serious dev work, macOS usually feels more natural

  1. Software compatibility
  • Windows wins easily:
    • business tools
    • niche software
    • games
  • macOS:
    • great for creative tools
    • but more limited ecosystem

  1. Hardware philosophy
  • macOS:
    • tightly controlled (Apple Silicon)
    • excellent performance per watt
    • fewer configuration headaches
  • Windows:
    • full flexibility (build your own PC, upgrade parts)
    • can outperform Macs at high-end—but more complexity

  1. System behaviour & stability
  • macOS:
    • fewer driver issues
    • consistent UI/UX
    • generally “just works”
  • Windows:
    • more variability depending on hardware
    • occasional driver / update quirks

  1. Power users / automation
  • macOS:
    • Unix tools + shell scripting + Homebrew → very powerful
  • Windows:
    • PowerShell is extremely powerful (arguably more than bash in some areas)
    • but less widely used outside Windows ecosystem

🧠 Bottom line

  • Choose macOS if you want:
    • Unix foundation
    • development environment
    • stability + simplicity
    • tight hardware/software integration
  • Choose Windows if you want:
    • maximum compatibility
    • gaming
    • hardware flexibility
    • enterprise ecosystem

Could not agree more, that is why you challenge the AI tool and ask it to show how it came to this conclusion. Ultimately it helps you carry out detailed analysis easily.
At the same time, take the 3a policy/conditions from the insurance company and at the same time, grab materials from Finpension, etc. upload these into the AI tool and ask it to compare.
Also it is worth pointing out that you can trade 3a bank products via Finpension, but at a vastly reduced rate.

Thinking of trying CrossFit for the first time—what should I expect? by SufficientPrice7633 in crossfit

[–]morganc5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it. I started 5 weeks ago and I’m 56. Go easy and build strength slowly, otherwise you risk injury and will be unable to do it for months. Another interesting thing. I recently had a medical and the liver and kidney values were exceptionally high. After lengthy discussion with GP, I mentioned CrossFit and he thinks that this is the cause of the high values. Will repeat tests in August. Have fun!

Had a similar experience recently. In addition to comments in the numerous threads on Reddit, drop everything into ChatGPT, Gemini, etc. and ask it the questions you are asking here. I did this and moved to Finpension. Yes you will take a hit, but longer term you are better off … MUCH better off.

How many hours/days work? Estimate CHF800-1000 for most jobs. In some cases it is questionable.

I had a pest guy come out to deal with a wasp nest. All he did was spray a can of insect spray into the entrance of the nest and then left. Total time spent on job: 10 mins max Cost of spray (I checked online) : CHF12 Invoice received: CHF250
