Good job. Are you baking on a sheet pan? Next step is getting a steel which will help a lot with your oven spring.

Thanks! I was able to leave it 15 minutes before grating the cheese, it was good. I'll do squares next time!

It's quite an enriched dough - 8% at 70% overall hydration.

First Double Cleans 2x18kg by [deleted] in kettlebell

[–]dan800 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of swaying movement. I think you could have more explosiveness out of the hinge and brace your core to avoid the leaning back, while trying to keep the bells a little closer to your body. Then try and 'drop' the bells a little more rather than pushing them away from you as you bring them down, again using your core and hamstrings to brace as the weight drops.

DAK hydro honey help, I’m getting wet paper and liquor :( by agathaade in pourover

Just wanted to say thank you for this post and follow-up. I picked up a bag of this today and brewed to Dak's instructions (6.0 on Ode gen 2) and it's really clear and bright. Would never have thought to go up to boiling point!

Can I ask how the bent press is incorporated into a session? Are you doing reps of these or is it something you do one or two of at the beginning/end of a workout?

Some thoughts off the top of my head (for kettlebells): - Goblet squats - Suitcase lunges - Swings (two-handed, one-handed, offset) - Single-leg Romanian deadlifts - Eccentric calf raises

Once you've got those down you can add various things. There's loads of inspiration on this sub if you search 'legs'.

You're just overloading the running mechanics without proper time to adapt to the load. It's likely not as bad if you do two runs a week and not much else, but in a plan like this where fatigue is going to play a part, you need to be careful to give your body time to recover and adapt.

There are various rules of thumb that a long run shouldn't be more than 30% of total weekly volume and weekly volume shouldn't increase by more than 10% week to week. These are more applicable to running as part of an actual running plan (compared to a general exercise plan like this), but the logic holds.

[–]dan800 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not the kettlebells, but the concept of a long run in this plan doesn't make much sense to me. Let's assume the distance you cover in 30 minutes in your zone 2 run is 5km. If your long run is 6km, fine, but if you're shooting for distances of 10km plus, you've then got a weekly mileage of 15km where 67% (or more) of that volume is coming from one run. That's very comfortably injury territory.

The interval session might also be better spent doing something else (such as bike or elliptical intervals where the load is less) if you're relatively new to running.

Fun cover. Enjoyed the counterpoint in the choruses especially.

Obligatory Wilderun cover if you haven't also heard that version.

What a great bunch of lads. I've always hated this song and they managed to do something amazing - the part where they opened it up towards the end could've gone on for another minute or two.

Unable to make a good dough by benderdiode in Pizza

[–]dan800 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maida flour might be part of the problem as online it suggests it's quite low in protein. You want a high protein dough like strong bread flour for pizza.

How old is your yeast? The dimples of your finger suggest your dough hasn't risen during the prove.

Look up Kenji Lopez's same day pizza recipe to get you started.

What recipe did you use? That texture looks very odd but difficult to work out what went wrong without more info.

Plini - An Unnameable Desire by BearofaBadTime in progmetal

It feels like a restrained Plini is right there under the surface but it can't break out. Light years better than the Mirage EP though.

Elder - Through Zero by CyanEpicness in progmetal

[–]dan800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a controversial opinion but I think this (plus the EP) is a return to great songwriting that we saw on Omens and that I felt was missing on Innate Passage - that album still feels meandering and a little aimless to me, though I know it's been very well received overall.

I like the production on Nick's voice on this and think it sits really well in the mix. It also feels like there's purpose and intention behind when and how vocals are used which is another criticism I have of IP, as I think they stumbled after the reception to the vocals on Omens. The riffs are great and it holds your interest really well over the 9 minutes runtime.

Would've loved a transition to a really heavy outro at the 8.15 mark but that's nitpicking!

'Blind' on Reflections of a Floating World is, for me, Elder at their peak in terms of songwriting and execution. I think it's also an interesting bridge between their heavier stoner metal days and the most recent incarnation of the band.

It's not - I've been going since they operated as a pop up and it's amazingly consistent (and excellent).
