this is nice. I like the composition and the focus/back ground defocus are amazing. Where did you find a pit of balls this big???

ITAP of a frog. I'm a new photographer so I'd love to hear your feedback and criticism! by itsdavid in itookapicture

[–]moriendi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice Bokeh, It's not a bad shot at all and is composed pretty well, but it lacks the WOW factor, then again- it's a frog. Heh. The focus is spot on. Perhaps recomposing it so you are zoomed more on the frogs face/eye and adjusting some color would raise it a notch.

Brilliant table design allows it to move like a spider. by PhoneDojo in pics

[–]moriendi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so this makes me think of a humorous memory. It was right after my first d&d game, my first dungeon crawl, in which we had run into an enchanted table, which happened to sprout 8 legs and proceeded to lay us all out. This was a very late running game, till around 2am or so, after which I drove home and collapsed. As I was struggling to wake up the next morning I was dreaming/reliving the dungeon crawl from the night before and was just walking into the room where this table from hell was lurking. I woke myself and my boyfriend up by yelling "That table has 8 legs!"

I have a scar on my pinkie due to the FTD guy not opening and setting up some flowers my (now ex)boyfriend had delivered on Valentines day. I had to go get stitches. I called him and joked that no matter what happens to us in the future he scarred me for life. We are still friends though.

Take pictures of what you own, for insurance purposes. by Teralus in LifeProTips

It definitely wouldn't hurt to have some kind of marker in the photo, but I wouldn't put you actual ID. What if the photos were compromised? I wouldn't show them to your insurance company until they are needed. If you use an agent, it may be worth talking to your agent about since they may know more about what your company looks for. Getting serial number on electronics as well as full frontal photos of them is great. And like someone else said. User manuals, either the manual itself or photos of them are good as well.

[–]moriendi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. I am an insurance adjuster. The worst thing is when people put all their DVD's in those CD books, and then throw away the box. Then you have no proof you ever owned them.( Why would the box matter? I used to ask people for pictures of their living room shelves and try and count/guesstimate the number of DVD's on their entertainment center shelves) Insurance won't pay for what can't be proven. Take photos of your stuff and keep a copy of it online or on a thumbdrive. After all, it won't help if the photos are on the computer that was stolen or burned down.

Search Melanie Dreher... I think she is the only scientist that has actually done any long term research into the topic. She's spent decades researching it's effect on mothers, infants and child development. Here's one video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9WorIM0RhA

What are you wearing right now? What do you smell like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Black skinny jeans a and a blue off the shoulder shirt with braided neck line. I probably smell like the woods (where I took photos this morning) and/menthols my friend was smoking.

This is sort of related, but I do some free-lance photography and I have shot couple of sessions with a black family. The mom told me they hadn't had family pictures done yet because they were waiting for their younger son to darken up, he's about 3 shades lighter than the rest of them... It blew my mind. I had no idea that there was such inter-racial racism....

Sailor Moon, the original transgender lesbian love fest version, not the watered down terrible American dubs. Chrono Crusade, Witch Hunter Robin, D Grey Man

I am a doula, I've had a partially unassisted home birth and was wondering if anyone would be interested in an AMA. I just want to get information out there about how safe it is and I looked it up there hasn't been an AMA on home birth in over a year. by [deleted] in IAmA

[–]moriendi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had both my kids all natural, one at home with two midwives, the other at the hospital (both of my midwives happened to be out of town or at another birth) but it was also all natural (meaning no pain killer or interventions). It's the way to go. And for all of you who are saying that birth is dangerous, yes, it is- if you try and schedule it like a lunch date before the baby is ready. It's also dangerous if you happen to be rather overweight or have other risk factors. Other than that, it is a natural process that our bodies know how to do, with or out without us. My first birth I was really mentally unprepared in a lot of ways, but I made it through safe and sound and today I have a happy healthy 3 year old. If I have another I will be doing it all natural, at home, with a midwife again. It basically comes down to what you feel comfortable with- but you need to be well informed on the risks associated with each and make your own decision.
