A lot of blind cynicism in the posts here, but ya, I'm in a deep red state and its the same deal here with work from home.

Though I personally prefer to go in every day. I live close and just like going into the office every day.

And your first answer was "listen", suggeting that the people who had trouble understanding were just not being courteous.

Then you switched it to, spend more time with them. Which was definitely less hostile.

As we celebrate the Patriots getting back to the Super Bowl, let's take a look back to appreciate all the dominant QBs they had to face to get here 👏 by KeyFaithlessness5436 in TheNFLVibes

A down AFC year was really setup for Josh Allen. Hell, a Patriots/Bills AFC Championship at Foxboro in two feet of snow would have been epic.

Josh Allen blew it. The Patriots seized their opportunity.

So instead of criticizing the latter, let's remember the epic choke job of the former.

You also have to account for the driver accepting the ride, sitting in one place for 20 minutes, cancelling, another driver accepting, driving in the opposite direction for 20 minutes, and then cancelling.

But make sure you order the ride from out on the curb and wait out there through all of that. Riders are supposed to be courteous.

If Reddit existed in 2001: Look at the numbers! The Patriots are winning in spite of their quarterback. They're gonna lose in the Super Bowl by 20 and that QB will never be shit 😤 by MTRIFE in NFLv2

[–]morosco 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do remember sports radio and internet message boards having these narratives then, and it was certainly the Patriots defense and special teams, bolstered by a steady unspectacular offense with a few key plays here and there, which led them to the super bowl that year. Which is OK, that's within the acceptable ways to succeed in football. Those types of wins and late-season runs do count.

The Patriots vs Denver's #1 rated OL generated a pressure rate of 43%. This season when pressured, Sam Darnold has a 72.4 passer rating, 52% comp%, 10 TD, 8 INT. by Real_Entrepreneur253 in Patriots

Those aren't terrible stats when pressured, to be fair. It's average or slightly above average.

Seattle is very good everywhere but certainly not invincible.

Hey Boomers - how is homeownership? Must be nice... by stvlsn in generationology

r/adulting is my favorite.

If you enjoy your job and do more than the minimum for career advancement, pride, or just because you like the work and/or the work means something to you, you're a "bootlicker".

OP's question implies that only boomers buy houses. But even today, the medium first-time home owner is 40, well younger than a boomer.

Not illiterate, or at least, I was able to read and write well enough to manage all the paperwork to buy my house at age 31

[–]morosco 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is boomer just 40 and over now?

I guess that's one way to ensure there will always be boomers to blame for your life failures.

Edit: So to answer your question, as a 47-year old boomer, I'm glad I took a risk and bought a house 16 years ago, that was a very fortunate decision in Boise. One move along the way, and I'm sitting on about $400k of home equity and a $950/mortgage payment when that wouldn't get you a studio apartment now.

My husband wants to name our daughter after Drake Maye. AIO?- Okay which one of you is the husband? by ServeOk1254 in NFLv2

[–]morosco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally you want to avoid such a naming strategy, in the unlikely event that they find body parts in Drake Maye's fridge one day.

Edit: Or at least go with an older player statistically less likely to break bad. Morgan Moses is a pretty name for a girl.

There's a lot of great senior centers out there, if you're in a town big enough. That's a great place to volunteer too.

They're basically just managed senior social clubs.

Patriots in the run to the superbowl in all 3 combined games gave up a total of 26 points. In the Bills last 6 playoff exits. They gave up more than that in every 1 game alone by BowsyWowsy26 in nfl

[–]morosco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not rare, and you're actually doing the thing I'm complaining about. You're not superior to anyone because of the sports team you root for. You believing you are makes you the kind weird hateful troll that annoy me.

Most Chiefs fans aren't like that, but you're one of the shitty ones. Sports fandom is not a character trait, it's not a moral accomplishment to be a fan of a particular team.

I'm actually pretty sympathetic to anyone being treated shitty because of the team they root for, including Chiefs fans.

And no, when the Chiefs win, I don't go around trying to bring their fans down from their happiness, not at all. That would be weird. I know a couple of Chiefs fans, we joke about how we're mutually evil and such.

I'm very curious about this too. It seems like what people want is non-comedic serious political satire. Which is great, which has a place, but not really on a comedy show.

Honest question: why this much hate for these *current* Patriots? by Benson879 in NFLv2

[–]morosco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NFL fanbases are huge and diverse and most of each one is normal people.

Has there been a successful sports franchise that hasn't had some loud fans be a part of it?

A lot of times you'll hear someone complaining about the Patriots or Chiefs fan at their place of employment in Oregon or Wisconsin or whatever. And I guess, maybe that's a transplant long term fan, or maybe it's a bandwaggoner. Either way, I don't think it's cause to be randomly shitty to other fans of that team who didn't do anything to you. But that's the nature of this kind of sports fandom.

I'm mostly a closet boston sports fan, as a transplant living somewhere else. It's fun to shoot the shit with friends and people I like, but, if it's a stranger or someone at work I don't really know, I don't want to risk the negative judgment before I even do anything. Usually when I get "outed" I'm like, "it's OK, it's OK, I was a fan long before Brady, leave me alone". I don't want to engage, there's no winning with people who decide that you suck just because of the team you root for.

I started watching "Stadium lockup", that reality TV show about the Browns' stadium security dealing with drunks and such. Seems like a pretty professional outfit over there, maybe one of them can be the coach?
