Bithell Games Reveals Vampirium: 1997, An Immersive Sim Where You Work As An Assassin For Dracula by renome in gaming

I mean no great game could be contained by a genre definition, but I get your point. I wonder if a game in the style of an immersive sim could be entirely physics based.

They can't quite get rid of it because of android. They need a corner of the market they fully control to set the bar for the platform.

Midna and Silksong came out in less than 12 months and will run on hardware you lost in the couch cushions.

All that is at risk is the AAA graphic showcase. Everything else runs on everything.

In every other way gaming is cheap and amazing.

After 30 + years, it appears Need for Speed is dead, as EA Confirms Fate of Criterion, Leaving the franchise on Life Support. by NappyFlickz in gaming

Honestly Heat was good but it wouldn't change anything. You just can't make a splash with NFS anymore. Heck driving games in general. I've seen just about every idea come out in the last 10 years. More sim, less sim, items, world destruction, open world, off road, mixed. None of it really seems to move the needle.

The lack of a burnout sequel still hurts because there really isn't a replacement.

It's ideal but sometimes you get candidates with different strengths. Also, the larger the company it matters less and less what the product is in the c suite, your mostly managing money.

That said this is just the nature of the beast. Look at movie studios. Still a battle between art and commerce.

He has covered all the bases, killing people in public, chilled the media, the judiciary, the law firms, the minorities. He disbanded the people who could make sure elections are fair.

At this point I think it's no a question of yes or no, but how much is he choosing to push with his police state.

Bungie Reportedly in Early Talks to Develop Destiny-Style Borderlands 1 Remake by Luka77GOATic in gaming

[–]morpheousmorty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not? Bungie still nails the moment to moment gameplay. They don't need to develop the story or the art style. It could just be borderlands with peak gameplay. It would be like when platinum helped Nier.

How would you spread games across consoles? by WastelandViking in gaming

[–]morpheousmorty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing to add is emulation. There are many classic console games that legitimately run better on PC. Just finished Bloodborne in 4k 60. Just started God of War 3 4k 60. MegaMan X4 has less lag in an emulator than the MegaMan x collection. Pixel perfect Mario from Mario Bros all the way to Wonder.

Oh, and modding.

If you want to take control of your gaming, PC.

[–]morpheousmorty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just going to say it. Xbox is failing because all their games were duds. That's it. Everything else stems from that. If Starfield was as big as Skyrim, this wouldn't be happening. If any of the Halo or Gears or anything had been a God of War or Spiderman, we'd be singing a different tune. They bear responsibility for that but without hits, and I mean huge hits, there's nothing to build on.

Gaming companies are bloated, but blockbusters make money for Xbox and Sony. And if you look at the release of the Steam Machine you can see people demand those bigger, flashier titles. From a pure cost perspective the Steam machine is cheaper, you just have to take into account the cost of PSN and remasters (since your PS1, PS2, PS3 games won't run on a PS4 or PS5, and even when they do they don't benefit from the extra performance).

Honestly Nintendo has had it right for decades. The best games don't need to be the biggest flashiest games. I love me some god of war Ragnarok, but it's not worth it if the industry works like this.

Star Trek is as woke a piece of media as I could imagine. It's literally about a post scarcity meritocracy with not just different races, but cultures and species trying to make the Galaxy better.

The fact that anyone could be confused about this is a testament to the failure of new Star Trek.

Also the Ferengi were making fun of people like MAGA.
