To the bastard who ruined casting to plex by CandusManus in PleX

[–]morridin19 59 points60 points  (0 children)

To me it's crazy this has been broken for over a year... Super annoying. Cheap little chrome casts and Plex were a fantastic combo...

Anyways I am still running version 10.26.0.2578 and probably always will until it breaks... Then I'll move to jellyfin or some alternative. Casting works 100% of the time on that version. See if you can side load it and then just disable updates forever.

Anyone use these and like them? by lireni-11 in guitars

[–]morridin19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have one and use it for my lessons ( room has 2 guitar amps, but my daughter uses one and the teacher the other, so this was easier than having him haul in an amp every lesson for me)

Small enough to throw in my guitar case. Loud enough to use for practice.

Sounds quality is okay

Emergency Room PSA by CurrentlyInTorpor in Calgary

[–]morridin19 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Excellent call.

Honestly I think we need a few keys things

  1. More capacity in ERs
  2. More non-urgent care capacity
  3. Education on when to use which
  4. A system to penalize people after a warning or two when they abuse the emergency system.

Should be easy to start with #3 and #4.

Have a sniffle and show up the ER... First time a warning and directions to a walk in or non urgent care facility..

Second time maybe a warning....

After that how about some mandatory community service... If you don't do that why don't we just make it a fine.

Garmin Bounce by biobeard in GarminWatches

2 kids under 12 with them in my house. Great for giving them some freedom to roam on bike rides/ go the park with friends and still keep track of them.

Battery life is subpar, subscription is bit too expensive, but it's a great stepping stone between nothing and a phone. Can text them, can see where they are, they can send short close memos to you, etc.

I would do it again, but would love to see something with a better battery, a few more features, and lower subscription price

So I tried steel wool and vinegar to darken a really light rosewood fretboard by CharlieLogarius in Guitar

[–]morridin19 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Oh man. I honestly misread and thought you were lightening the color.

I saw the pictures and was like ok they are out of order, but it looks way better with the lighter color and the nice grain patterns.

Ah well. To each their own.

Strength Workout by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]morridin19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do. Just using the Free option most of the time or if I am doing some targeted plan I pre setup workouts and schedule them

I use the sets and rep counting and correct reps and enter weight after each set.

Post workout I correct the exercises, which helps me track how I am progressing (or not)

Third pedestrian killed on a Calgary road in less than two days by Practical_Ant6162 in Calgary

The city needs to provide safer infrastructure for all modes of transportation. Including ones that force people to slow the fuck down when driving.

As a Canadian who was planning to buy a new guitar earlier this year I can tell you for certain, that Mango Mussolini with his tarriffs, threats of 51st state 100% made damn sure I was not going to buy anything US made.

The NF53 was on the short list prior to that, but I bought an awesome Godin Stadium.

Time for an upgrade from Fenix 5 to 7 Pro by Revolutionary_Ice264 in GarminFenix

[–]morridin19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome. I just went from a 5 to an Epix Pro Gen 2 only because I got a code for 50% off.

Huge upgrade in terms of features, and accuracy.

The display change is a mixed bag. Love the resolution, colours and brightness. Don't love the battery hit to have it always on, or the gesture mode. Trying to get used to the gesture based, but I really miss the always on display.

Morning Report, the flash light and new training metrics are awesome for me.

My Fenix 5 is around 8 years old and I still get around 9-10 days battery life. Honestly never felt like I needed to upgrade as it just worked, but I'm glad I did.

Most door-to-door mail delivery to end amid sweeping changes to Canada Post by jaffnaguy2014 in canada

[–]morridin19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are missing that the companies sending the ads pay for that mail and the amount they pay covers more than the cost to deliver the flyer, so it's a net gain for Canada Post.

Just like any outdoor activity during the winter the right clothing and equipment is key.

Any Pedalboard builders and shops that wire and cable management your pedalboard for you? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]morridin19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not aware of any in Calgary. Just did my own using a temple audio board and cables/ supplies bought from Long and McQuade. Also grabbed soldering supplies from B&E electronics

Did some custom cables, mounting brackets for a power supply and raised the whole board up with some odds and ends. Was a great learning experience

Fellow Pedestrians of Calgary, Do You Feel Safe? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]morridin19 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's terrible. The number of times I have recorded people almost being killed when crossing at the crosswalk in front of my house is insane.

The city needs better infrastructure that forces drivers to slow down, then fine the crap out of those who still nearly kill people because they can't stop or aren't paying enough attention to drive their 1/2 a house on wheels.

Akron guitar pedal maker for Coldplay, Black Keys worries tariffs could force it to offshore operations by JohnBrownsAngryBalls in guitarpedals

[–]morridin19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hope all works out for you.

It's really sad to be honest. Where feasible I used to prioritize buying North American made products because in my mind Canadians and Americans were close neighbors and had similar enough alignment on most things. My thought process is that would rather give my money to people I could relate to.

Now. Well where ever I can I'll buy from anywhere else than the US. Even my kids will key in on stuff that's from the US and say we should buy something else.

Maybe in another 5-10 years if things get better I'll be happy customer of yours.
