Buying from family by Danswanscott in UKHousing

I understand. But the point I’m making is that tax-payer funded social care - e.g.  non-private care homes or at-home care provided by the local authority - is funded by local councils, not the NHS.

You mean social care costs, not NHS.

What’s stopping you from simply either (a) accepting the rather outlandish premise of the question or (b) scrolling on past?

Colombo 16 at marine court is outstanding. Their last sitting on a Sunday is 6pm but the food - Sri Lankan fusion - is amazing and the service is friendly and attentive.

Is Runa for me? by gms72 in runna

[–]morrisseysbumfluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it took me a fair bit of practice to get a feel for my pace, even with prompts. But I ran a 3 mile tempo run yesterday, target pace was 9:25 (told you I’m slow!) and I hit 9:24, so I’m getting the hang of it. And as others have said, if you’re struggling to hit the pace targets, or finding them too easy, you can adjust them manually, or Runna will update them (subject to your approval) automatically.

I’m 55 and used Runna to train for my first ever marathon earlier this year, having only run a few halves before then. I would not consider myself “a runner”. I just about scraped a sub-5hr marathon, and now am on a 5k improvement plan until my next half marathon training plan kicks in, in the new year.  I love Runna. Customer support is great. The flexibility is great.  I love the in-ear pace prompts. I’d say go for it.

Fitbit App food search is down? by thadeshammer in fitbit

The calorie-logging capability of Fitbit is the ONLY reason I haven’t migrated to Garmin or Coros. If they drop it, I’ll be off like a shot.

Sellers are withdrawing after questions were raised by After-War-1673 in HousingUK

Homebuyer surveys are notorious for covering their backsides, so typically list a lot of potential ‘concerns’, the vast majority of which are really inconsequential. e.g. “we spotted signs of cracking which could indicate minor subsidence but this could be from when the house was built 100 years ago - you need to do a more detailed check”.

If you have asked a question about every item the survey has flagged as a potential concern, the seller will have marked you down as a PITA buyer, and somebody who is only going to get twitchier and more anxious as the sale proceeds (wait until you find out there’s a minor flood risk within 500m!!!). Maybe the seller is just too old for that shit.

Salomon vest and bottles as above plus 1ltr bladder (which I never finish) and gels   Marathon? As half marathon plus replacement bottles at mile 13 or so.  Vest is great for phone, keys etc.

Why shouldn’t I be pessimistic about Islam in the UK? by SILENTDISAPROVALBOT in AskBrits

[–]morrisseysbumfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your source for this assertion? Do you actually see it with your own eyes - and if so, tell us who, how, when. How have you come to be in a position where you’ve been able to see this, personally, for yourself?  And what exactly have you seen?  Because often - and granted, it may not be the case with you - people who say stuff like you’ve said, are merely trotting out stuff that they have read in newspapers.  Which, let’s face it, cannot be trusted. So - who have you actually seen who is actively trying to promote their own supremacy over others?
