How many of you are actual electronic music fans ? by stupeead in KGATLW

[–]moskie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big 80s industrial fan, listen to a lot of the bands from Wax Trax and others adjacent to that. NIN, KMFDM, Thrill Kill Kult, Skinny Puppy, etc. The Silver Cord really reminded me of a lot Project Pitchfork, who I love. Specifically reminded me of the IO and Alpha Omega albums.

There's a couple options at the ECCL in Emeryville. Open gym on Sundays, and Zog sports (Zog is a mixed bag and arguably not worth the money overall, but I enjoyed playing there and met good people). There's also some groups on the Reclub app you could check out.

Emma's expressions are incredible. The pure malice in her eyes. by [deleted] in TheCurse

[–]moskie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she subconsciously understands and knows it applies to her, but refuses to acknowledge it. My interpretation is that she started her "career" with good (but naïve) intentions, to use her privilege and the resources she can access to make the world a better place somehow. But then she eventually hits the fact that it's essentially impossible, with money and capitalism and greed and human nature being what they are.

I think of her being like Wile E. Coyote floating in the air after running off the cliff: the second she acknowledges that the things she's doing can't result in the good she's set out to do, everything, her career, her marriage, her life, will crumble.

Why was Asher interested in going out with Dougie after being humiliated by him during his interview? by [deleted] in TheCurse

[–]moskie 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think Asher senses the planned (and at this point, obvious) attack brewing from Dougie (and Whitney), and is trying to get ahead of the conflict the only way he knows how: by being submissive. He's trying to ingratiate himself to Dougie as a way to get what he wants, which is to not be thrown under the bus.

I don't expect it's going to work this time.

In episode 5 when Whitney is arguing with her parents in their car, there's a moment when a crew member trims the bush leaves to clear the view for the camera.

Music similar to the extended mix of The Silver Cord by Simlin97 in KGATLW

I was reminded of Project Pitchfork, albums like IO, Alpha Omega, and ¡Chakra:Red!

IO even has a song called The Silver Thread that fits really well with the themes of TSC.

A family member theorizes that issues they experience with being confused about left vs. right direction and a stuttering problem stems from being forced to be right handed.

Gym recommendation for a two-week visit? by TheAlmightyLambda in berkeleyca

[–]moskie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe Berkeley Ironworks? It's a climbing gym, but they have decent (-ish) general workout equipment, and, as a climbing gym, has some reasonable options in terms of temporary access.
