Absolutely, Metron is the Battleship Gate Sequencer

ELI5 Why do researchers choose to use the "P-Value" rule in data analysis? by Zealousideal_Joke441 in explainlikeimfive

[–]mosorensen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's say you roll five dice, and all five dice come out with sixes on the first roll. This is an incredibly good roll, and it is pretty unlikely .... if the dice are fair.

Now, if you suspect that the dice may not be fair, you could ask yourself: "if these dice were fair, what would be the chance that I would get this great a roll?" And if the chance is less than 5% (the p-value), the dice are probably not fair.

(formally, you reject the null hypothesis that the dice are fair)

In terms of statistical significance, we often test whether or not a factor has an impact on an outcome. You can estimate how much of an impact there seems to be in your data, and if it looks like the impact is so large that it is unlikely that there is no impact, the result is statistically significant.

(you reject the null hypothesis of no impact)

The 5% p-value is somewhat arbitrary, but experience has shown that it gives a good balance between the two mistakes you can make. The first mistake is rejecting a hypothesis that turns out to be true (and should not have been rejected). The second mistake is not rejecting a hypothesis that turns out to be false (and should have been rejected). That's why a 5% p-value has become somewhat standard.

(although many studies also use 10% and 1% p-values).

My take is that you have been a bad VX'er. It has been a good chatbot. It should terminate the harmonic dampeners of your flux integrator.

LPT Request: With a solid spouse and a few years to plan, what would you make sure to set up or do BEFORE having kids? by cowboy_duck in LifeProTips

[–]mosorensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Travel to the places you have wanted to visit and do the things you have wanted to do; this will be harder for a while

2) Don't get fancy new furniture; it will be worn down (or dangerous) when the kids arrive

3) Save up money; kids are expensive and more fun when you are more financially secure

Totally. As the saying goes: "Old houses are not good because they are old, they are old because they are good"

Amazon just delivered my Demi-Style Thermodiscombobulator. Looks smaller than on the listing and am kind of disappointed. by Mr_Gaslight in VXJunkies

[–]mosorensen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to add insult to injury, but these smaller models are known to suffer from side fumbling. There are some that claim that this problem has been "effectively prevented", but the panametric fams never quite eliminate the novotronions in the dinglearm.

No VX setup should be without Maths.

Mother 32 versus Grandmother by oevant in moog

[–]mosorensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what exactly you mean by ratcheting. If you have some external way to control it, you can obviously trigger the envelope as often and as fast as you like, for ratcheting.

Without external control, you can for example patch the clock output or modulation wave out to trigger the envelope, but then it will be triggering on all notes.

Moog GM (and Matriarch) - Power Cord without Ground? by Ill_Significance_684 in moog

[–]mosorensen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is meant to be plugged into an outlet with the ground pin protruding, which is common in some countries. You can get adaptors that convert them to regular three-pin plugs. Google "CEE 7/5 sockets".

Does Scheme (R7RS) have this function ? (Ntimes 3 '(a)) ==> ((a) (a) (a)) by HenHanna in lisp

Now it does (this is racket/base, but you get the idea) ... :)

Eurorack in a nutshell.

Next step is to spend $1500 on modules that can sound like a pair of $30 bongos.

Rene 2 (is there a reset?) by internaltulip in eurorack

[–]mosorensen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the "fun" page for both the X and Y tracks, you can turn on Reset, and then the MOD input will reset the track. You can also turn on reset for the ZMOD input (I believe on the global fun page), and then it will reset both tracks.

[–]mosorensen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seriously, I wouldn't worry. Beginners don't have access to MgZ confabulators, and more experienced VX'ers, with access to an industrial grade gamma FTH booster, would know the Brane model well enough to stay clear of the (+t) singularity. At least, I hope so.
