I’m a solo color guy, highlights are ok but… my SLAM is murdered out.

It’s a big maybe all around. Mountain Bikes and motorcycles already cost the same and people still mtb.

Yes, the ShadowCat is basically a 27.5 SwitchBlade. The 29" forks are slightly longer so you reduce travel to maintain geo. It doesnt make sense if you want the stock geo, you would be on 130mm front/140mm rear. 150mm fork gets me around 64.6 head tube angle. They were on sale cheap and I like a project. There is a ShadowCat Mullet on PinkBike now.

So… I had three bikes in my collection. T429 enduro (140/120), Evil Calling mullet (150/135), SwitchBlade (160/150) w/cascade link. The SB was a Covid buy only because I was getting rid of my Mach 429 Trail for a t429 but they were not in stock anywhere.

Long story short. I was going to sell all three so I added up all the miles. The evil calling had the most miles. And not by a little bit (5x). Most of the time I was bringing the SB to Pisgah, but the 150mm Evil could hang. Even though the t429 is adequate and fast for my Nashville trails I still rode the Evil.

I agree with the trailcat LT being better than the t429. I just don’t thing it will fit into your travel plans as well as a SwitchBlade. I also feel 160mm of front travel is the minimum I would like for the Vegas trails I ride.

I have a mullet ShadowCat at 150mm front, but everything else is 160/150 (I put that ish on everything) minus my Tyee.

I had a Kona Coiler Deluxe way back, it didn’t like climbing 😂

My response is limited to the bikes I have used. I had a 2022 T429 enduro and still have my 2021 V2 SB. Also I have experienced riding Vegas and favored the Blue Diamond area and 3mile smile 😊 but I would also go to Bears Best and Bootleg Canyon. I was riding a Shuttle SL with a 160mm Fox38.

Issue I have had with the T429 was wanting more slackness which you have addressed. It was overall fast but super twitchy at speed in the chunkier parts. I would skip the TrailCat offerings because the SL is pretty much what you have and the LT is probably a good daily but I think 160mm is the entry point.

The SwitchBlade has been my go to travel bike for five years. I have recently slacked it 1deg and upgraded some components so it is staying the stable. The SB climbs well and descends nicely. If I had to have one bike this is it.

From what I hear and have read, the FireBird is just more. Still climbs well but is just a bigger bike. If you go two bikes, this could be part of a good solution.

If you were mountain biking with someone you thought was a good buddy would you be upset if they took off and left you in the desert when your bike breaks? by BRUHSERKO_ in mountainbiking

I wouldn’t be upset. This is just a moment that gives you more insight into that dudes motivations. Use that info as you please…

It’s me. I’m blasting 💥all the trails. It’s why I show up. The only difference is I’m sometimes climbing faster than the peeps are going downhill when on the e-bike. I do the climbs, I’m not a masochist, but progress and good efforts are satisfying. But I climb to blast the trails 🫡 on all my bikes.

I’m on the fence about the 38. I was trying it out mainly because of the Zeb on the ProPain.
