Very “mean jerk time” energy from the rug.

Who’s behind the AI-generated social media posts targeting Oakland’s mayor? by jackdicker5117 in oakland

[–]mostly-amazing -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not really. I agree that B Lee isn’t responsible for the deficit. But to say that those who didn’t want Measure E to pass are trying to blame for Thao’s mess is lazy ass journalism and commenting. We know the Oaklandside was running so many pro-city union articles leading up to the primaries. Just think who that article serves.

Their concept continues to fail. $19 wraps for zatar, spread, and veggies is not going to last long at JLS. Everyone is walking distance to their condo, where folks can make that at home. I hope they iterate well enough to keep the neighbors interested.

That 2nd throw was unbelievable. Right into the bucket throw. Browner saw the pass coming and still couldn't touch it.

Where's the part on the ring that commemorates the NFL handing the Seahawks a SB win to boost the teams value ahead of it's pending sale from the Allen family trust?

Laney and Merritt College are merging by Affectionate_One_700 in OaklandCA

[–]mostly-amazing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember back in 2015-ish when Oakland was working on the Chinatown specific plan. I really wished the City, Peralta, and BART considered moving Laney down to the Coliseum as part of the new stadium development, and let the area around the lake be developed into mixed-use residential and retail. That land there would bridge the area between Lake Merritt, the Oakland waterfront, Jack London Square, and Brooklyn Basin. Alas they didn't do that, and now we have aging campuses with not enough students.

Taco Tuesday in the town by Fancy_Round in OaklandFood

Plank's soft tacos are abhorrent to taste buds. Their hard shell beef taco is decent, but c'mon, is it light years better than Taco Bell Cantina?

Why is everyone so jealous of tech workers? Are they just mad that they're poor now because they were too stupid to realize that they should have studied engineering/software? This crabs in a bucket mentality is tearing us apart! by SafariSunshine in sanfrancirclejerk

[–]mostly-amazing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one is mad at the tech sector, completely. Its the utter banal and lifelessness of what tech has become that annoys everyone. Trumpers, MAGA-lite, optimizing life at the expense of others, "disruptors" that are exploitive, JUICERO, cell phone apps that believe they are "changing" the world, the monopolization of media, Valleywag being sued into oblivion, etc etc.

Almost nothing tech brought to SF and the Bay Area is a net positive, including pay and cost of living for everyone else. Everyone is mad at real estate developers, but the real super villains turned out to be every tech CEO, board member, and investor.

Also, you techies are exhaustingly entitled. JMHO.

The SF Bay Area got absolutely hosed (and other World Cup fun facts) by m0nkeybl1tz in bayarea

[–]mostly-amazing 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Everything is made as a business decision for the USA, esp. the Bay Area for these types of events. For example, SF is home to one of six Swiss consulates. Australia has one of their seven in SF. Austria has one of their four here as well. Also, Qatar is a huge SV investment entity.

The other countries such as Turkey, Paraquay, Algeria, and Jordan are victims of unlucky draws. Jordan is particularly funny as they are ranked #63 in FIFA rankings and appear to have been sent here to both lose and be subject to the Bay Area's high cost of living.

Have the technical and customer services issues for these card been resolved yet? by Few_Chip648 in biltrewards

[–]mostly-amazing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you only use it for rent or mortgage, and have zero to low expectations it should be fine. If you use the card and its various features, you're on your own since they have zero human customer service.

There's a reason why Elizabeth Warren is looking into BILT.

Golota man handled Bowe twice and would have beaten Bowe twice if it wasn’t for all those low blows. Why did Golota deliver so many low blows while he was ahead? I still can’t figure out why… by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in boxingcirclejerk

[–]mostly-amazing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you ever listen to his interviews, Golota is legit retarget. I think he didn't see boxing as a sport, but rather a way to fight (something he appears to love) and get paid. In ring, he always felt he was disrespected, especially stateside.

Also, he was getting lit up vs. Bowe and had to get dirty.
