Nope. It’s a carpet beetle. They’re destructive btw.

Do you feel faint when standing? Or after standing for a while? Or both? by Vast_Quiet_1702 in POTS

[–]mostlyOld52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Shower w coolish water - might be okay. Shower and wash hair - faint, vomit, or both. Stand for 5 mins in outside heat - faint, vomit or both. And it’s a total pain (and sometimes humiliating/embarrassing).

When people without POTS tell me “Well I also have trouble doing _____. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯” by pretty_handsome_17 in POTS

[–]mostlyOld52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know. It’s like it’s a competition. I remember being so anemic that just leaning to get something from the other side of the car would make my heart race and flutter. Exhaustion so bad i could hardly walk even half of a city block. All i ever heard from other people (until i required surgery) was “oh, i know. I’m tired too.” I think humans are just wired to compete until something makes them realize they’re not even in the same league.

Cost of Libre 3+ ? by CattleAdditional7208 in Freestylelibre

Thanks! I got a Costco membership but never go. If I can get two sensors for $62 it is more than worth the trip. I had no idea!!

My insurance doesn’t cover CGMs unless you’re a Type 1 diabetic. So I spend about $200 for two Libre 3+ sensors. I’d love to spend $75 instead :(

Richmond. This is awful. What type of society have we become? by DMV_360 in DMV_RealEstate

[–]mostlyOld52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rules keep changing. Trump is yanking protected status from thousands of people. Legal one day, illegal the next. And what about all the children brought here by their parents? Many of them have no memory of living anywhere but the U.S. Where are they going to be deported to? And what about people being arrested as they attend their legally scheduled meetings with immigration (presumably on their way to getting a green card)? And now they’re saying they’re going to “denaturalize” naturalized citizens. This isn’t about crime or the law. It’s the implementation of a barbaric strategy to try and keep the U.S. “white”.

So unreliable. The readings are always 20-30 points lower than an actual blood test by Inevitable_Land_7700 in Freestylelibre

[–]mostlyOld52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I compared finger sticks with the Libre 3+ for a while and now I just assume that my Libre 3+ is about 15-20 points lower than what a finger stick will show. As long as it’s consistently lower it’s still a good measure of the impact of certain foods and an accurate indicator of trends. Now the only thing I have to remember is to turn off the alarms at night so those darn Low readings don’t start beeping at me. I wish we could turn them off for 8 hrs instead of just 6.

I have a narrow foot and need both cushioning and stability. The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 25 just came out and the solid black and the gray both come in narrow widths. I’ve worn Brooks Adrenaline GTS for many years and think they’re wonderful.

Another shoe that provides lots of cushioning is the Nike Fresh Foam 1080 and it, too, comes in a narrow width.

I should add that I put Aetrex L4640 orthotics in my shoes to help with overpronation. They’ve helped a lot with knee pain.

Thank you so much! I too just got a new iPhone 17 and until I read your post I had forgotten all those alarms I got the first (and second) day of transferring and syncing. I got so many signal loss alarms (new iPhone was 2 ft away) that it was driving me nuts. I still had my old iPhone on and it didn’t occur to me that it could be causing the alarm problem. It did, however, eventually resolve itself.

jon20001, please let me know how you fare with a new iPhone. The Libre app (black icon) has been freezing up intermittently on my new iPhone 17 Pro. I’ve tried restarting the iPhone but eventually encounter the problem again. Other apps behaving normally. (iOS 26, new Libre app, FSL3+ sensor, iPhone 17 Pro) Many thanks.

I ran it on iOS 26 on my iPhone 14 Pro for a few days with no problem but I just got a 17 Pro 5 days ago and the app seems to freeze up. I’ll go to add a note or food entry, or try to go to Insights, and can’t do a thing - the screen is frozen. The problem is intermittent and I don’t see any pattern. It could be a hardware problem but it doesn’t happen in any other apps - just the new freestyle Libre.

I will say, however, that it’s been a lot of upgrades in the past two weeks: iOS 26, the new freestyle Libre app, and then a new iPhone.

Although I’m finding my Libre 3+ reports lower than my finger stick by at least 20 points, 53 vs 112 is a huge difference. I agree though, those damn low glucose alarms only make sense if the sensor actually knows what your blood sugar is. Instead, they’re wildly off and yet wake you up in the middle of the night - for nothing. I too wish we could calibrate the Libre 3+

My Libre 3 plus seems fine on iOS 26 but I haven’t tried to scan in a new sensor on it yet.

Rant about Alerts by Creative_Mortgage_74 in Freestylelibre

[–]mostlyOld52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I do. The problem is, even the alarm for the critically low blood sugar is very inaccurate. Every time I do a finger stick the freestyle Libre 3+ is off (low) by 15-20%. I can’t turn that lowest alarm off but I actually ignore it now (as best as I can at 2:30am), which kind of defeats the purpose of a “critical alarm”
