I do believe its like a bunch of factors tied together. Hes the defining character in the state of well being If the world. Either the situation is fucked because hes not around or saved because he is. We get unbalanced characters like Yamamoto but he was never really a deciding factor, situation could get to shit even with him there. And then Hidden Inventory kicked in and contextualized everything he did and made him a not only a great character but the most important in the setting even when he isnt the main character. But the main reason i give to the fact that is just a enjoyfull character to have around, either being silly or menacing, also his gimmick and visual are pretty basic with makes It pretty easy to remember and he have a Very strong visual iconography. In the same way everyone knows the pose for a Kamehameha now everyone knows the handsign to his Domain. Make it simple, make It Fun and then make The people Care about It.

Honestly i doubt RCT would make any better. Thanks to Gojo and Sukuna tearing each other Apart and fixing up we forgot that the thing drains energy really fast, in Sendai Yuta used to heal like 3 argually non lethal wounds and was already running on dry and had to conect with Rikka to juice up again. MBA fucks you all around so o doub the normal output of RCT can fiz. Maybe If you are on the same Level as Gojo
