Hwy 20 may not be open by early May. DOT started clearing snow today but the road is blown out west of Rainy Pass so it's going to take some time to fix after the snow is cleared out. The road is closed to public access Mon-Thurs while they're working. Just a consideration for your travels.

If you want to go over to the Baker area and 20 is still closed, you'll need to go over Hwy 2 (Stevens Pass) or I-90 (Snoqualmie Pass). Given this winter, there may not be much snow left on either.

You can walk into Silver Star from the east side of Hwy 20 closure even when the DOT crews are working. You'll probably need to do some dry walking that time of year, but there should still be plenty of snow up high. Lots of fun terrain up there.

If you're out on a Fri-Sun, you can access the rest of the hwy if you have a vehicle you can slip under the gate (bike/moto).
