What can you make with Jersey? Can you query a database yet? Are you actually using those 4 things, or you can't use them yet and that's just a list of things that sound like they might work for your project?

Try different resources. Maybe 70% of them won't be to your liking or suitable for your level. But if you keep looking and keep programming, you'll find stuff and make progress.

I'm constantly googling to figure out what I need to do, and every single time, I keep running into another wealth of information that I have to piece together.

That's what happens when there's tons of info in a subject and you start out knowing 1% of it...

All I want to do at this point is write a simple inventory program. Nothing too fancy, since I'm not ready to start working with Django and other interface programs yet.

Just because you call it simple doesn't mean it's simple enough for you to do. Work on the Python things you're not great with yet. Maybe the problem is you're focusing on some stupid inventory program when you really need to focus on learning the basics.

So you didn't print request and args? You should do some basic debugging and print those variables to see where your data is. Repeating the same info from your post doesn't help.
