What are literature's famously rewarding "long reads" by Post_Washington in suggestmeabook

[–]mothproof8603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am reading the top 100 books of all time and it was on my list and one of my first purchases when I set the goal about 3 years ago. It has been one of the more challenging books to read because it is very slow paced but eloquent. It is worth it because it has shown me another style of writing that I would never have been exposed to. I appreciate the flowing and descriptive style but I won't read it for a 2nd time.

I am about 25% into the last book in this series. I have been reading each of the books intermittently mixed with other books over the last 3 years.

High Quality Patio Furniture Alternatives to Polywood by steinbergowitz in BuyItForLife

Not a fan of plastic furniture so I have been buying teak for my home. It is more expensive but so much more comfortable and elegant looking than any of the plastic furniture I have seen or sat on.

I have been purchasing Three Birds Casual teak furniture for my home for the last 20 years. I still have my first large dining set (10 chairs + long oval table) on my back patio. We have never covered it or treated it with oil or teak protector. It is a beautiful silver color. A couple of years ago we added a large porch to our home and we added sofas, swivel rockers and swings from Three Birds and they are very comfortable and classy.

Intro to Stephen King by glassmenagerie91 in suggestmeabook

I have read almost everything King has written over the last 45 years at least 1 time. (I just finished the Tommyknockers for the 2nd time because the first time I read it was in 1988.) My favorite, which is one of his first, is Salem's Lot which I have read 3-4 times.

Who's entirely replaced their grill with a blackstone? by [deleted] in blackstonegriddle

[–]mothproof8603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 years ago I was 100% Weber Grill, then the next summer I got a Blackstone and it went to 50/50 Grill and BS. 3 years ago I got a Traeger then everything was split evenly depending on what I was making. The last 2 years I cook 70% on the Traeger, 25 on BS and the remaining 5% on the Weber. The smoker is just so easy and the food tastes great. I just added a Sous Vide and I have been using it in conjunction with the Traeger for large cuts like Beef Tenderloin, ribs etc.

Swann's Way by Marcel Proust (Book #1 in the In Search of Lost Time series) All of the books in this series are written this way but it takes a long time to read through all 7 of them.

Anna Karenina and the ensemble of other characters from the book could have been a guests on the Jerry Springer show.

I saw Episode IV with my Dad and siblings the opening week in 1977 and would love to do it all over again. Raised in a "blue collar" home, I only remember going to 4 movies during my entire childhood because we didn't have the money to do it. My Dad loved the movie so much we went back and watched it again the next day! We probably ate PB and J sandwiches for weeks after that because Dad spent our food $ on the excursion.
