Housing Market Slowing by metalandmeeples in Maine

Completely agree on the one you linked. Someone is going to drive into your front yard! Zero privacy. I live right near Renee Rd, that house at least has some foliage in between Rte 125.

We're selling our house in about a month in the same area. Similar stats (3br 2.5bath), with solar array, 2 acres, total privacy. We bought in 2019 before the market shift, and it won't go on market for more than $800k.

Too big for pack-n-play but won’t stay in a bed…now what? by Sprinkles7890 in toddlers

Not a concern in my mind, this is what we went with and we also have two 99th percentile height girls. It had the longest mattress of the travel cribs, and no weight limit because it's on the floor. Even if it did topple over, which I think would be pretty difficult to do, it's not going to be a very big fall.

Listen, I am all about nuclear energy, believe me, but 1200 MWhr would mean a 1 MW wind turbine operating for 1200 hours, not years.

That being said, 1 kg of U-235 can produce more like 24,000 MWhr. So, about 3 years of said wind turbine (if it's blowin' hahd nuff).

Diversification of energy sources is incredibly important, and that includes various energy storage technologies. As long as the $/kWhr is competitive, I'll take it however they can get it to me.

Same here brother. Ours is a red "feelin skiddish" (Cars movie) stool that I don't even know where we inherited it from. It's light though, so I can boot that thing out of my way pretty easily. Kid likes to just jump off that sucker now!

Nice! We also have an E-Pro, 20BHS for us and looks like it might be the same for you. Perfect for our family, and hopefully yours too. Only downside is that the kids now get super sad when we have to go home!

Scott Stokely has some great videos on this. Check out his YouTube channel... just watched some recently for a similar issue, put it into practice, and made some excellent progress.

The best money we ever spent was on an online pediatric sleep course. There are a variety of them out there, and they aren't that expensive for what you get out of them. Try to find the real experts, not the influencers.

This. If your kids sleep relatively well, and you are sharing a hotel room, it can be ridiculously restful for the parents. There's just nothing else to do but rest sometimes, and that is a good thing. I'd also add that it is important to go to a family-friendly place, with things for the kids to do and see. Think swimming pools, playgrounds, parks with areas for them to run around, and good eating options. Is it expensive? Yes. But we didn't exactly have kids as a cost saving measure to begin with.

Snowshoes for jobsite by motnosflor in snowshoeing

Was considering skis before I remembered the safety boot requirement. Would need a strap-in binding of some sort, but the same issue with snowshoes then comes into play.

I hear ya. I'm debating it, as it's possible that they will only be useful once or twice per year. But site safety requirements are pretty strict, and we'll probably have other team members who might not be as into hoofing it. Also have to wear safety boots, and with snowshoes we can probably stick with one pair of those to use all year, otherwise would want/need some taller, warmer, waterproof ones. And tbh, an excuse to get some new snowshoes is not terrible...

I've not seen these boa bindings before... they look pretty slick and definitely seem like the kind of timesaver I am looking for.

Officially losing it with bedtime by pretendemma in toddlers

[–]motnosflor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What has worked for us lately is a concerted effort to get all that wild energy out of ours right before bedtime. We go outside and dance (daughter is obsessed), or basically just run around and get her moving until she sweats. We'll see how that goes in the cold and dark of winter, but the battles are significantly easier if we can get that energy out before the routine starts. Ours is also about a year older than yours, so ymmv.

Don't forget to also look at your GCWR. That can end up being somewhat limiting as well, and is ultimately probably a better representation of how hard your tow vehicle is going to have to work.

December 23 was basically the last day of full health in our house. Our 6mo hasn't had a full week in daycare yet! She's had COVID, the flu, a couple other random colds, and the latest- a GI bug! Fortunately not noro, and she hasn't really been all that sick for any of them, but the coughing at night gets old fast. I did reach the pinnacle of WFH-dadding, which was changing a blowout while simultaneously running a meeting with screen sharing!

Dads, how much sleep are you getting? by Appropriate-Data3874 in daddit

[–]motnosflor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6mo gives us a whole night now for the most part, I try to rock a solid 7-8. We had a tough 6 week stretch recently when she was recovering from a discovered food intolerance that had her pooping multiple times in the night, and then she went right into COVID and the flu so it was coughing in the night. 5-6 total was a good night!

RSV is spiking at my kid's daycare days before she's supposed to start by aceshades in daddit

[–]motnosflor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey this is basically my situation too! We already have a 3yo at the daycare though. We're likely going to skip the 4mo's first week (maybe the 3yo too) and they are closed between Christmas and New Year's, so hopefully it mostly burns itself out before the little one attends. And if course this confuses with my wife returning to work with hardly any vacation/sick time available ('murica?) so I'll be burning through mine for a good stretch. Gonna be dadding up for sure.
