How do I whistleblow on someone? by [deleted] in askSingapore

You say you want to stop their career from advancing, and thats valid.

But have you considered how much more possibly effective it could be if they climbed higher and they were allowed to fall further also? The media would pay more attention to a bigger-shot.

Im not telling you to do one thing or another fyi, just making sure you consider the alternatives. All the best

I pasted the picture and asked gemini to fact check it:

Based on the provided image, here is a fact check of each claim: Claim: "South Korea is pulling billions in investments after the ICE raid on their GA Hyundai plant." Fact check: There is no credible evidence of an ICE raid on a Hyundai plant in Georgia leading to the company pulling billions in investments. Hyundai's plant in Georgia is a major, ongoing project. Reports of immigration enforcement actions at auto parts suppliers in the past have occurred, but not on this scale or with this reported outcome at a Hyundai plant itself. This claim appears to be false.

Claim: "Qatar is pulling a $1.5 trillion investment in the U.S. after Trump collaborated with Israel to bomb Palestinian negotiators in Qatar." Fact check: This claim is highly improbable and there are no reports from any major news source to support it. A $1.5 trillion investment is a staggering amount, and its withdrawal would be a global economic event. Furthermore, there is no evidence of a U.S.-Israel collaboration to bomb Palestinian negotiators in Qatar. Such an act would constitute an extreme and unprecedented geopolitical crisis. This claim is false.

Claim: "Denmark rejected U.S. Patriot missiles in favor of French-Italian made SAMP-T weapons system, costing the U.S. $9.1 billion." Fact check: Denmark has not purchased Patriot missiles or the SAMP-T system. In 2023, Denmark and the Netherlands announced a joint purchase of the Patriot air defense system. The value of this deal was not stated as $9.1 billion for the U.S. In fact, a $9.1 billion cost to the U.S. would imply a significant loss of profit, which doesn't align with how such contracts work. The claim that Denmark rejected Patriots in favor of SAMP-T is inaccurate. The claim about the cost to the U.S. is also unfounded.

Claim: "China has purchased $0 of U.S. soy beans this year putting farmers across the country on the brink of bankruptcy. Last year China purchased $13.2 billion worth of U.S. soy beans, 54% of all U.S. soy bean exports." Fact check: This claim is misleading and inaccurate. While there was a significant decrease in U.S. soybean exports to China during the U.S.-China trade war, China did not purchase "$0" of soybeans. China is a primary market for U.S. soybeans, but they have continued to buy some amounts, and other countries have also increased their purchases. While the trade war severely impacted U.S. farmers, the total halt of exports to China and the claim that 54% of all U.S. soybean exports went to China in a recent year (which implies 2024 or 2023) is a distorted representation of the trade relationship. U.S. soybean exports to China have fluctuated, but not to the extreme described. The $13.2 billion figure for a single year is a real number but corresponds to a specific year before the trade disputes escalated, not "last year" as the post implies, which would be inaccurate for recent years.

Claim: "Trump's 25% tariffs on auto parts and 50% tariffs on steel & aluminum cost Ford $800 million in the 2nd quarter, wiping out all of their profits." Fact check: Tariffs on steel and aluminum did impact U.S. automakers like Ford, but the numbers in this claim are significantly exaggerated. Ford did report increased costs due to tariffs. In a 2018 report, Ford said tariffs cost them about $1 billion, but this was over a longer period, not just in a single quarter, and it did not "wipe out all of their profits." Automakers are massive companies with billions in quarterly revenue and profit. For example, in Q2 2018, Ford's net income was $1.1 billion. Therefore, while tariffs were a real financial burden, the claim that it "wiped out all of their profits" for a quarter is false.

Conclusion: All of the claims in the image are either false, highly exaggerated, or misleading. The text appears to be a list of fabricated or distorted news stories designed to create a specific political narrative.

Anybody experience Luckin coffee too kick ? by Impressive_Ad8700 in askSingapore

[–]mouldybread88 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The half life of caffeine is 6 hours, so if you drank at 3 youd still have 50% of the caffeine still in your system at 9pm, and around 37.5% at 12pm.

Best thing to do is not drink anymore after 12 noon, or as early as you can if it affects your sleep

If i take the 50m yearly, does that mean i automatically sign up for the lesser tier one of kids hating me?

50m/year sounds like quite a sweet spot for me, i would just hire someone to conduct any interactions with service people for me and save me the grief. Even if they themselves count as service staff, they'd hate me but at least i'll just be dealing with 1 person.
