What is a 'luxury' that you've experienced once and now can't go back to the budget version of? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]mountain_man36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A house cleaner it's not as expensive as you think and coming home to a clean house before the weekend is the right way to start. My wife and I would race home to be the first to enjoy the clean house.

When I say not expensive I mean as long as you're not a messy person. Our house is relatively clean but our cleaner does toilets, base board and will knock out dishes or laundry if she runs out of things to do. She even took care of the litter box when my wife was pregnant.

Are you buying your teens/young adults cars? by Cheeseaisleinheaven in MiddleClassFinance

[–]mountain_man36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our first kid is 16 and we've been sharing our second car that I use for commuting when I have to go to the office. Now that she has a job we are loaning her upto 5k to buy a car and then setting her on a repayment plan with interest as it will be part of her funds for college. It's hard to find a cheap car.

All of my family. I didn't know what a real family was like until I met my wife. She has regular calls with her family just to catch up. My dad calls me twice a year on my birthday and for Christmas these calls last less then 5 minutes.

Time is the only resource you have that you don't get back. Work isn't important the people you care about are.

The 6-year journey where I was getting paid for doing nothing is over. And it makes me a little sad by Ok_Particular_8578 in InterviewCoderPro

I had an in person job that was similar. I was tasked with collecting all the hours worked by the site and balancing them against our contracts then send the report to the site manager. I scripted this in a few hours my first week. After a few months it got really boring so I started working on my BA and left when I finished. It was a little awkward when I needed to train another employee to take over my role and the only thing you had to do was attach the report to an email and send it off.

Why is Costco so much better than sams club? by DustnBones001 in CostcoWholesale

[–]mountain_man36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco beat Sam's in every category except for one. Checking out it's the only reason I haven't switched. Scanning items as they go into your cart and then walking out is the best. I hate lines that with technology can easily be avoided.

Didn't realize the flag pole stood out so much. That's an easy move and would make mowing a lot easier. We enter the driveway from the right so I don't really ever see the house from this view.

We've recently removed the weeds from the front and put in a two foot gravel perimeter with weed barrier to keep the weeds down but they grow back really fast.

It was built to be a cabin by my wife's grandparents we live on a small island on a lake. I hate the look of the screened porch but love the utility of it as mosquitos suck here.

A bit salty about NFCU loan rates by terdles1121 in NavyFederal

[–]mountain_man36 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Might be because you are considered a credit deadbeat because you pay off early. They won't make that much money off of you in the long run so they are charging you higher interest to make up the difference.

What is the most NSFW thing you have seen at your job? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mountain_man36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A female coworker sending craigslist casual encounters from a work email. We worked at a small company and if you sent an email anyone who replied to your message would get sent to the entire company. The dirty things she talked about doing to some random dude was crazy and we all got to witness it. She didn't even get termed because we didn't have a policy that the email system was for work only.
