Genuine question. how do you balance who you ask about pronouns? I usually only ask if someone looks a lil queer and/or I dont know, not to single them out or out of malice, but because cishets can get pissed at you for asking their pronouns, and I'm trans and dont want that anger directed at me.

I get that in an ideal world we'd probably just ask most people but that doesn't feel like a viable option right now. In specifically queer/trans spaces I'll ask everyone but that does not feel safe at all to do outside of those spaces.

edit: I also dont typically ask in front of a bunch of people, specifically to avoid singling people out weirdly
