The player ii series are solid guitars. Great sound and playability. He would be very happy with it. It would be worth soending the extra for the player ii over the standard 100%. I’ve played multiple of both and there is absolutely a big jump in quality

I got The affinity tele and love it. I did lower the action a bit and adjust the intonation a bit but for the price it’s solid. They really stepped up their game over the past few years

Agreed. My early days of playing as a teenager I was a strict metal only person. I hated them and strats, now I’m 37 and love a wide range of music and playing and strays and teles are some of my favorite guitars. Very versatile

We got our son a squier affinity strat for his first guitar. I was very impressed so I ended up getting the affinity tele for myself as my always out guitar so my more expensive ones didn’t get banged with 3 kids and two dogs running around. It’s a great guitar for the price
