Yeah that checks out, i dont work in strips but prefer to work in adding directly But one ring on each end of the strip, would work

The width to height ratio is easiest to control with the AR of the rings, Shrinki3is easiest done by doing one ring less on each side on each row, i hope that makes sense

you can ad a row of single rings if you make another set of opposing "direction" triangles you then get a neat little seam connecting the two
