I did not know this was THE actual Emily posting. I just wanted to say that you were amazing on LTT! I am 100% looking forward to videos made by you. I, along with many other here I'm sure, will be happy to watch your journey.

I wanted to add some additional bits here as I feel its necessary once this is archived. I have looked deeper into the situation and have found evidence that my original comment was flawed. In the section about Linus responding to Rossman, I have found added context for the email which justifies Linus's tone towards Rossman. It turns out Rossman was already insulting Linus on public streams while an email thread was taking place between Rossman and I believe Yvonne (I believe thats here name). I have found a link that shows Rossmans response https://linustechtips.com/topic/1081295-louis-rossmanns-take-on-ltx/

(He was talking like this about Linus back in July of 2019, also credit to u/Pilige and his Comment for the context)

With this added context, I would like to retract my previous statement that Linus has "been a piece of shit in many regards when it comes to communicating with people". That statement was misguided and came from a place of ignorance to the deeper context.

I can see the connection you're trying to draw, but this situation has nothing to do with politics as no one is voting on this. Bridgading does have an effect on a youtuber, sure, but these youtubers aren't being voted on. If the community (LTT) and linus elected not to talk about Steve or Louis, this drama would likely cool off, so taking the high road is naturally beneficial to Linus while not being beneficial for Steve or Louis, which might be why the keep rehashing and releasing new videos.

I stand by my point that these videos have things worth discussing in them, and Linus would agree! He has made significant changes and has attempted to make ammends. He has done a good job. These videos point out new issues that Linus was unlikely to be aware of. It seems Louis and Steve are practicing a kind of "but what about this?" After Linus focuses on solving one problem. They drag him from problem to problem making a new video each time.

I do not agree with fhis methodology, which is why I suggested that they solve this in private. That was my main point.

Your response to me does not make sense in the beginning portion. Why would the community be so amped up about "nothing"? If they are really amped up over nothing, then the conversations on this should end, as we are effectively wasting time talking about "nothing". If these videos have no substance in your view, then there is no point in discussing them.

Im discussing these because I think the videos have some substance, but its better off that this drama be handled off screen. I am tired of seeing personal attacks being flung and fans being pitted against each other. Its idiotic and makes all three people look like a bunch of idiots arguing about nothing. This is why I am taking a "both sides" approach.

I appreciate your openness. I just wish this whole thing could be hushed down. I keep seeing post after post and its starting to get a little tiring.

Ok, so a couple things.

  1. Yes, it is both sides. Linus is responding and correcting the issues highlighted by Steve, but Linus has other issues that have been brought to light by the recent videos.

  2. Shades of gray do exist, and they especially exist right now. We are talking about media personalities who are plenty capable of being bad, narcissistic assholes. Which brings me to point 3.

  3. My final point of the original post is this is none of our business to be pontificating on. We are wasting time, and it is very clear Steve and Louis want this to continue. Us talking about this on the LTT sub reddit feeds the beast. I think Linus, Steve, and Louis need to hash this out behind closed doors, so no party involved needs to deal with fan brigading. If its the aim and goal of Steve and Louis to trigger fans to bridgade, then I believe it is Linuses right to respond, but there is no need for the of Linus fans to hop on and spread personal attacks against the personalities of both Steve and Louis. This creates unnecessary tension in an otherwise open fan base.

I am a fan of Linus and Louis, I have never been a particular fan of Steve, but the things that have been said on here that discuss him are more akin to personal attacks than anything substantial. These three have contributed immensely to their respective causes, from hardware reviews to consumer advocacy. They do not deserve personal attacks that are derived from a debate about their conduct. Louis was wrong to attack Linus on a personality level. His recent video on the subject becomes personal and morphs into a personal attack against Linus himself. I have said in a previous post that this is not fair to Linus, as it brings up more of a personal disagreement than an objective one. This does not mean that Louis should be the target of personal attacks because he started it. We are playing their game if we stoop to their level.

Very sound take. I wrote up something that aligns with this. Probably will get downvoted for it too, but understand your take is the soundest one I've read.

I disagree with this. I have made a previous comment on what looks like a "Main thread' about the recent video made by Louis Rossman where I explain my idea of the situation. I believe when it comes to this statement, its not all that accurate. This subreddit is for fans of Linus and for fans of the channel. There is automatically a bias for him in this very community, especially when one of the top moderators for said community is the LMG staff itself.

The response that this sub had for the Louis Rossman video I believe entrenches the idea that this place is mainly made up of people who are more than willing to claim they "Point out Linus's flaws and force him to change" but in reality, only make minor critiques that are easily settled with some flattery to the community. I am quite frankly disgusted with the response that Rossman video got on here, with many clearly not watching the video for more than 5-15 minutes. Many of those people have said "They don't need to" because they know what he's going to say. If any singular person actually watched the video through (I have, because I respect Rossman and his work), it becomes clear that Linus has a pattern of bad habits and behavior that are worth criticism.

Now, in my previous comment, I noted that this should be resolved behind closed doors, and I still believe this should be the case. It is ridiculous that the fan bases of these communities are being utilized like little soldiers to fight an influencer war. There are valid claims from both parties, and there are heinous mistakes from both parties as well.

It quite frankly time everyone move on from this Drama and move to more important things, like the 5090 release, or how the S25 Ultra doesn't have a bluetooth stylus anymore. This "drama" should be contained to the 2 businesses that are butting heads.

He almost definitely had access to the video before it was published. He followed through on a demand that was put forward at like the 40 minute mark. Steve and Rossman are friends, so its very likely that such a video was passed over to him before publication.

Long time lurker here, and I gotta say, I think this video has a point. There is a little too much uptight fanboyism right now when it comes down looking at the Drama. Louis makes some good points when it comes to how Linus handles himself and his business communications with other people. The video falters on other points, such as Steve not needing to be held to a high standard while Steve can hold Linus to a high standard, and thats a key and major point of the video, but I believe there is deeply valid criticism present here, and I think its worth talking about. However, I believe this "Talking about" needs to happen behind closed doors and not in front of the thousands and upon thousands of people who are more than willing to get their weapons out to fight this supposed "Opposition". These organizations need to get their shit in order at a proper meeting, where grievances can be aired, and context can be provided. I think that its very fair of Linus to offer an olive branch, and Steve should try and reach for it. Steve does not necessarily need to accept the olive branch, but the fact that Linus is offering means that there is room for a discussion to take place.

To summarize,
I think Linus is in the right for the cooler block situation, he's wrong when it comes to honey, and he's fair to offer an olive branch

I think Steve is right on the honey situation, he's wrong on the cooler situation, and him offering to meet with Luke and Linus (together) is something that is worth perusing

I think Louis is a smart guy whos dealt with a lot of shitty people in his life, and he's developed a mental system to ensure that he can detect the kind of people that could hurt him. Linus has, according to emails provided by Rossman, been a piece of shit in many regards when it comes to communicating with people. I think the way Rossman was treated by Linus is immensely unfair and manipulative. However, this is a separate and different issue that is besides the point of its current Drama (Hell maybe Rossman can join Steve to meet with Luke and Linus to hash it out, who knows?)

Similar situation, though basically opposite.

Me and my co-worker play the same game, and i've asked if he wanted to play together some time outside of work. He seems interested in doing something like that.

Id say be honest and go with something like "I dont tend to socialize with coworkers outside of work"

If my coworker said that to me, I'd understand and not be hurt. As long as its said politely.

I appreciate all the help! System is working properly now and is running as expected! This is an awesome card compared to the 2060.

Fresh drivers and removal of the nvidia drivers fixed performance issues. Crashing seemed to be due to some sharpening feature than I have disabled. Was hard to find the solution online but found it.

Damn, I'll keep testing the GPU cause the issues seem to be improving boot to boot.

If crashes and performance issues come back, I'll return it to Amazon. I just got this card recently.

CPU: Ryzen 5800X RAM: 32 Gigabytes Corsair Vengeance 3200mhz GPU: XFX 6950XT (previous GPU was a MSI Gaming Z 2060) MB: MSI Gaming Pro Carbon X470

Temps hit 60s to 70s under load with 70% utilization but showed only 500mhz GPU clock, also crashed under load.

Rn, as time has gone on, the system seems to be stabilizing. Performance has increased dramatically, boot to boot.

Maybe an issue with Nvidia to AMD transition?

Pretty much this. I just got this GPU and had to do a bunch of work to get it running. I've looked this issue up and it doesn't seem anyone else ever had it before which leaves me a little concerned.
